hey Softcore, I'm also totally against griefing and all that. I'm going to roll the dice and see how Abacab's guild turns out when the server goes live, maybe I'll be a positive influence (though I doubt I'll even get that much playtime). Abacab only trains people when he's off his meds, if you talk to him while he's calm you'll find he's genuinely opposed to griefing, so who knows, maybe grindcore will be what we're looking for.

Look at it this way - no matter what, on any pvp server, you'll have to be guilded with people you don't like. I'm not fond of abacab's reputation of training, using showeq, throwing temper tantrums over nothing, etc., but grindcore is going to be the closest thing we have to an anti-PK guild with the server's population the way it is right now, so I'd rather gamble on that than go solo.

It seems to me that there is enough interest in this sort of guild for something better than Grindcore to work. And with this dream guild being anti, I can see it recruiting a good amount of new players (particularly former blues) by being helpful and friendly. I dunno if I'm right, but it seems to me that the only reason Abacab is going the anti route is for this reason. Taking his history into consideration, do you really think there is not going to be any GM drama in Grindcore's future?

There is no point in actively pursuing an anti-PK sentiment when it's a low population that's based around PvPing for the sake of testing bugs.

So yes Grindcore did PK in BETA because the whole point of BETA was to test PvP mechanics

I'm certainly aware of much of your history. Red99 is your chance to redeem yourself somewhat, and with Grindcore being against grief I assumed you have planned on taking it. For you to say something like this, though, does not make me any less concerned.

I don't mean to be as abrasive as I probably sound, and I do hope that you have managed to put your past behind you. Just, for me? This is a pretty clear indication that you are not what I would be looking for in a guild. Maybe as things progress you'll be able to prove me wrong. On paper, your guild claims to be everything I want, and I am determined to do many of the raids I missed out on during live. We'll see, though :)

Taunting a pet is not a train, I don't see why you keep bringing this argument up.

Hypothetically, if I was running through guk and some mage popped a pet on me and I was forced to run to the lower guk zone line to escape PvP, and as a result of my "dubious" faction the pet was swarmed with frogs and crocodiles thus resulting in the mage eating a PvE death.

This is mere negligence on the mages part, his need to pursue me out of vanity and ego instead of clicking "back off" was his own undoing, and no matter how much he whines in petitions it won't change the fact he sent his pet across a zone full of KoS mobs.

In this case I attacked the pet prior to the enchanter getting off a mez and took off before I fought a 6v1 battle that I would lose, I was within my freedom to engage and flee, and I did as such.

I mean shit dude, when a criminal flees in a high speed chase police have the option to pursue or not to pursue, if the chase might end up risking dozens of lives including his own (as in the criminal books off the freeway into a metro area) then logically he should stop out of self-preservation and just call that shit in.

It keeps things interesting, especially if the players in it are good. pvp becomes a game of cat and mouse when out numbered and i find situations like that very fun. even if in the end i get owned and camped.

A server has to have a solid backbone of anti RPK playerbase to be healthy. I't can't just be a bunch of random people running around constantly ganking for no ingame reason and survive. This is why all 4 (5) of the EQ pvp servers died.

Its also why Shadowbane died out, eventually the GM's there stopped doing in game events, then the "roleplay" lore guilds left, then the anti RPK guilds left, and what you had left was the dregs of the servers, lore-less RPKs who attracted (like they always do) a larger percentage of cheaters and dupers. Then the game shut down, as the warefare and pvp became nothing but one giant Epeen flameware contest.

We honestly need more guilds that are anti RPK like grindcore. What we really need is one or several of the big PvE blue guilds from blue99 to move to red.

The griefers must be a minority of playerbase for the server to be healthy, period. I've seen the same thing play out over and over again since the late 80's.

Has there been any rumores within the big blue99 guilds of switching over? Even they have to see its better to fight over Trak then sit around for 15 hours and petition a GM.

Fish bait is very PK, although I've grouped with them here and there. Flowers of Happiness is utterly PK, but strangely gentlemanly about it. The biggest jerks I've seen so far on Red99 have been guildless.

I tend to like the middle of the road -- non-policing guilds that don't PK and dump all sorts of Hell on those who PK them. I don't like the idea of role-playing a fantasy medeival cop.
