If the average person spent 4 hours a day doing either missions or ratting ( Ratting is farming mobs for coin basically )
it would take 3.125 years to earn the money to buy a titan
imagine what he feels tonight

A corp (guild) called Goonswarm scammed someone out of 75billion dollars. (isk) The item they were buying was something you would normally not see sold openly like that, which proves they were fucking stupid. Eve Online condones if not encourages scamming like this to happen, so it weeds out dumb people.
Basically, think of it EQ PvP terms. I told someone if they paid me X amount of plat I would let them have X spawn from this camp whenever they wanted. After they paid me, I killed them, stole the money and laughed at them.
That's pretty much what happened here. Someone stupid got scammed. Not PvP, but dumb people getting weeded out.

That sucks but I'm sure we've all held on to or lost some expensive pixels.
I traded a guy an AON (when they were worth a shit ton on TZ) for fixing my car once and people called us both retards for opposite reasons.
No one got scammed though, that has to hurt with 3k.

I can comprehend losing 3k to a scammer, that sucks.
Is this spaceship like the EVE version of a WOW sparkly flying mount or does it blow planets up?
so wait...
how did he lose 3k
if he has the ship he wanted?

to give you an idea of what a titan is , the manufacturing time of the ship , is 6 months , thats once you start it ( And have all the stuff )
and at any time other players can attack your little magic space station , and kill it during production , which adds to the cost
the ships are epicly large and really cool in all reality , eve however is epicly boring and i choose eq pvp over it
even tho only fish bait exist to pvp against ( i r still not hate fish baits ) i just wish more people decided to level

you forgot to mention the best part
GMs wont get him his money back. They believe scamming is a part of the game environment and it helps make it feel immersive.

No...because scamming actually is part of the game. Here's a scam that netted over 200 billion isk. Word is the guy was able to RMT about $6300.00 worth of isk before he was banned.

EVE also supports exploiting game mechanics in every way possible.
It's a fun game at times but is mostly a boring grindfest with griefing via exploits running rampant.

Failure... They used screenshots of Crystallos, the end zone of the Secrets of Faydwer expansion (where the Sleeper returns), to explain the awakening of him on Zek when the GM intervened. Not using screenshots of the Sleeper's Tomb.

OP's post was original and new.
Shit Solid posted has been shown a dozen times on every forum.
OP = quality.
Solid = troll
Kudos to that scammer, played that game in the beginning but just didnt like the time constraints on learning skills, I bet someone who's played it from the beginning is pretty badass now.. I just couldnt stand having one account spending time just to be a mining bitch and another for pvp.. then the thought of losing it all in one instance to a gank.. meh

They can't keep the courts out of games forever.
There have already been some cases.
Only a matter of time. Is like the Wild West, sadly. Or not, if you like it that way.
Virtual 'assets' are becoming less virtual and, at the same time, more acceptable. It's inevitable.
What we own is becoming more like digital data. Not long from now you'll be able to print out forks/spoons/cups/plates and other similar things on a printer at your home. You will download the open-source data file OR the proprietary data file and then simply print it out. What is the meaning of a possession when most people have the equipment to make it? The meaning will be in the design - the data file. What we 'own' is undergoing a transformation.
Matter is becoming more like a program. Computer data and reality are coupling into one thing.
All of this is bad news for those who want to keep the internet free and wild.
I consider myself part technologist. I love the topic. Kurzweil is too optimistic, though.
