This isnt a huge issue but I like to take a look at someones gear after I kill them. I like to see what type of gear my competition is wearing.

maybe a second right click could bring up the regular inspect window like it normally does on blue 99?

Can't we implement like a 10 second window to look at their loot at least? This is weaksauce.
Yea raping their gear with your eyes after you kill them is very satisfying..

It wasn't done to keep players off the corpse, it was done simply because you have no need to be able to see their items. Working as intended.

What do you mean no need?
If I kill you.. I'd like to know what kind of resist gear/random shit you were equipping.
It can also hint other shit.. say X mob was killed and now we see Y playing wielding Z loot.

Do we still have to right click their corpse to loot their coin? My only concern would be that coin loot is automatically awarded on kill, which would not be right imo.

It was really satisfying for me on VZ to look at some people's loot. Taking down a hardcore raider solo when you're casual and undergeared is great, and it's made that much better with a screenshot of me looking at all the raid gear on their corpse.

Emp, can I call you Emp? With the utmost respect and only to point out what was classic, you could see what people you killed were wearing on non-item loot servers. Poking through their stuff was part of the amusement.
It also may serve you to have this in place so players can help point out who suddenly and over night ends up with full diamond/blue diamond etc.

Yes, Emp. This is true. Forgive any annoyance this may have caused but it is for the greater good. There should be some treasure troves of screenies of players getting looted on coin loot servers. No doubt the Darkenbane site may have archives that still exist from both RZ and SZ.

also on vztz there was a timer, corpses were only lootable for like 2 minutes after you killed them or something.. after that, it locked you out from looting, and forced you to get up off the corpse if you were still kneeling over it

So if I log onto RZ on eqlive right now I'll be able to see what a player has on their corpse?
I find that hard to believe, in which case, no it is not all of them. Even if at a point in RZ's history you could see a player's corpse, I'm pretty sure it was during the time period you were actually able to loot an item off of it.

I played on Vallon, and at the start of the server we had item loot. It was removed after not too long, and changed to coin only. I could still see their items.
Ask some TZ people, their server never had item loot. But I am 100% certain of this, Rogean.

Vallon Zek certainly did. You could see people's gear when you looted their coins(Just like looking at a mobs loot) all the way up until I quit when ShadowBane came out. Like I said, this is more of a "Nice to have", and its classic.

Without wasting time looking for "proof" I can 100% confirm that on RZ/VZ/TZ when you killed someone and right clicked their corpse, their items appeared in the loot window and the coin automatically went into your inventory. If there was no item loot on the server you couldn't do anything further but look.
I don't get off on ogling the gear of someone I just killed, but different strokes I guess.

I lost all my screenshots from eq, but here is one. I found it on DB's website. This is obviously after luclin... take peoples word for it that you could always see loot when looting a corpse you killed. You simply couldnt loot anything(Except coins which were looted automatically).

All the way through POP, I remember this being the case on Tallon Zek. Even when it was just coin loot, we could always check out someone's dead corpse. Was a cool thing, I thought. Constant reminder that "back in the day we could pick one of these from his body!" ...
I don't feel its a big deal but would be great to have that again.

Its not a huge deal, but I would alter my strategy if I knew certain people wore different types of gear. The only way I'd know this is by killing them.
For example, if i knew someone had high MR gear, I may not try to cast magic based spells at them as much next time we engaged.

Sullon zek you could see their items. When you looted them the pvp token/coin auto appeared in your pointer; you didn't physically loot it from their inventory. You could kneel there and check out their stuff.

this was a classic mechanic, you could view players items even if you couldn't loot, it's a fun factor thing and doesn't grief your opponent, no reason not to have it in place.

You could look at their gear, but the moment you tried to loot an item it would say something along the lines of "You cannot loot this item" and kick you off the corpse. Definitely a classic mechanic, I played on VZ pre-kunark and it was always like this.
It was a good mechanic so you could see what kind of gear they had resist-wise. Also makes for better pvp kill screenshots!

Normally you guys make good choices and I tend to agree with most of them.
This one I don't agree with. It's kind of like the /inspect feature. I just like to see what they had on...SZ was coin-only and you could see what they had on.
Locked down corpses were never an issue that I remember...because /corpse worked great...as others have said.
