So I'm in the mood to make a class I have never had before, that being said, I'm choosing an Enchanter. Everyone loves them and they can solo when needed, sounds like a winner. I'm going with a Dark Elf, so what starting points should I go with? Also, I have about 45k to put in this guy and would love to start off with 200 charisma. I have never paid any attention to enchanter gear or the prices, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Put all points into cha, then put the last 5 into int or str. I recently made a DE enchanter and the 60 str hurts, an extra 5 goes a long way. Some may say sta but 5 str will do far more good than 5 sta in the short and long run.

Also the enchanter can't just solo "when he needs to", but can solo quite well period. Once I hit 12 I started charm soloing and have never looked back. Extremely efficient and will give you good practice for higher levels.

My guy wasn't twinked at all, only gear he had was an adamantite band, 55hp ring and Advisor robe which I bought selling bone chips. Was given a bracelet of woven grass which I sold to buy golden jade bracelets, kobold hide boots and splitpaw necklace. I had zero cha gear and so my cha was only 95. Eventually got into unrest FP group and got an opalline earring and savant's cap, but still did all my charming at 95-100 cha plus my buff.

I can't wait to start charming at higher levels with better gear, really makes paying attention important unlike fear kiting with my necro. And yes being able to sell that loot at practically any vendor is super convenient.

I've always heard how awesome enchanters are, then you have clarity, and all the illusions just sound handy. I figured with good gear from the start, it will be an amazing experience lol.

It may sound obvious, but just make sure you go agnostic.

I've read choosing a deity would still get me killed even when using illusions.

That's why you select agnostic.

That's why you select agnostic.

That is correct.

You should make a Dark Elf for the hide ability

Agreed, hide ability is very handy. Great for breaking charm and afk medding in dangerous zones. When I was in Oasis I'd just sit and med wherever I made my last kill since I could just hide and nothing saw through it. It's not 100% guaranteed but I'd say it's a good 30-50% chance of working and the refresh is pretty short if it fails.

Also with hide you can tell if memblur works on mez'd mobs:

Memblur + hide, if mob cons threatening, hide worked, memblur didn't

Memblur + hide, if mob cons indifferent, hide worked, memblur worked.

You should make an erudite, put all point into Int then Sta, and get a Goblin Gazughi Ring (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1653).

Check the p99 wiki for gear suggestions, both the class specific gear lists and just searching for gear by slot/class and seeing what looks good. Price things by asking around and going to EC. Or if you have 45k you might have a basic understand of what things cost, and you can go off that.

The wiki has very little when it comes to Kunark loot tips. I can tell you PCs on shaman, druid, SK, and Ranger items... Just not enchanters. That is why I have asked for suggestions.
