<Rogean> hey pals
<Rogean> we're provisioning hardware for red99
<Rogean> just thought you'd all like to know
<Rogean> It means
<Rogean> I'm getting hardware ready
<Rogean> nothing else!
<Mitic> there MUST be something else to say
<Mitic> like... and btw..we are going online next week
<Rogean> Hardly
<Rogean> Still need to do beta and all that fun stuff
<Rogean> But I'm getting the server hardware prepped sometime next week, then shipping it off to data center, then gotta install OS and stuff on it
<Rogean> Mainly taking one of the servers already in my farm and putting a raid 5 with 4 15k drives on it
update:
<Rogean> It's not brand new, it's one of the servers I already had
<Rogean> Just slapping some new hard drives in it, getting it up to date on software and fresh OS installs

updates for the starving pvp community

<Rogean> dynamic system done
<Rogean> just fyi though names will be colored based on the dynamic level range
<Rogean> making first person red is np
<Rogean> but for example.. someone that you can't attack and can't attack you, will have normal blue/purple
<Rogean> orange = you can attack but they can't attack you until you do.. yellow = vise versa of orange
<Rogean> I was leaning towards first person being red anyways
<Rogean> the out of range blueness isn't an option
<Rogean> was only talking about first person
<Rogean> and I'll make that red
<Mitic> ok then
<Mitic> will be interesting to see this system once it goes live
<Rogean> It's working nicely on my test server
<Mitic> have u sent the hardware to the datacenter yet?
<Rogean> no
<Rogean> just got it on friday
<Rogean> I can do beta before the hardware is in place though
<Mitic> now thats big news rogean
<Mitic> i heard rumors about beta taking 2 months before it goes live, that true?
<Rogean> Pro Tip
<Rogean> Don't believe rumors
<Mitic> =)
<Rogean> Usually anything that's credibly said by a staffer is quoted on the forums within minutes

oh yes! :D

Think it's like an anti OOR healing mechanism where if someone out of range heals/or attacks someone higher than their range they become attackable.

Can still heal somone oor at least once before you become attackable?

You become attackable when you heal someone OOR. How would you become attackable before doing it?

Didn't think about it TBH but yeah that one invuln Cheal could be gay heh.

as in, do you become attackable once you start casting? or once the spell lands. Thinking CHing cleric can watch a warrior get down to 10%ish befor his CH heals. I dont really care was just wanting to know.

Well, how could they possibly prevent that without removing level ranges altogether? It's not that big of a deal. If some level 40 tard CHs your opponent, you mow the level 40 down. That's not that much different from having some random guy run up and heal the person you're fighting. What they want to prevent is people who can just heal people endlessly without being attackable.

I'm guessing it'll trigger when the spell lands. Would be annoying if you got flagged every time you accidentally started casting a spell with some level 50 targeted. Should allow people the opportunity to cancel the cast.

It's not as if incidental OOR healing will be a common occurance. They just want to avoid making it a viable tactic, and this system does that just fine.

Or a shadowknight/caster following a guy around who's just out of range invuln from pvp waiting for an easy killshot.

The only way you can prevent that is to remove level ranges entirely, and that's just not good for the server in any way.

Personally, I'd say don't let people attack targets that are +OOR. There's no need for it. Just have the dynamic system apply for heals and HP buffs (because they also heal the target). Don't want it so that you can't ask that level 20 druid for a SoW because he'll get flagged and ganked five minutes later by some tard.

release red

That.

Think it's time to accept that these things can happen and you can't cover every scenario. OOR healing was never punished on live. Making zones with raid targets all ranges is the best fire and forget solution. Don't promise to enforce anything like this after that.

set the level range, decide type of loot if any, and release red

Man they should put you in charge around here.
