I've been giving it a lot of thought and I finally nailed down what we need to do.
First things first. I read the poll about "what class is going to be your main on PVP" and rest assured the best class will be Monks. I really like doing some good kicking and round houses and other sweet surprise attacks and I think monks really have this kind of thing in store in ways that other classes just dont.
I've been to the monk wiki site http://wiki.project1999.org/index.php/Monk
and monks seem to have the most combat skills compared to other classes. In PVP combat is everything because if you don't kill your enemy, they will surely kill you.
The other thing is that this server is going to be really rough. I've been reading old posts and I'm guessing that people will hit level 50 within a year of the server release and this will mean you need to really be ready to go right out of the gate.
For that reasons a monk is really the best class because they can make do with the least amount of items AND have the most combat abilities like kick and roundhouse kick and flying kick. Not to mention eagle strike.
As far as rules go I think that 1 on 1 is the most fair way to fight it really lets the individual fighters show off their skills to the max, with nothing else getting in the way.
Besides that, in other games like pokemon and dragonballz boudokai tensei 3 the battles are basically always 1 on 1 and I think we can draw some lessons from these other games.
Other than that, I think there should be a "belt" system in game and people with different belts wont be able to fight eachother. This way a weak white or yellow belt wont have to come against a really tough second degree yellow belt or even worse a purple belt.
Spells shouldn't be allowed in PVP because they don't really show off the players ability to "fight" its more of a spell casting thing which just isn't very much skill involved.
If anyone has any suggestions then probably it would be a good idea to post them here but Ive talked about this with some of my teachers and this is probably the best way to go for good pvp everquest.
Also what does it mean when you need a spell file? I dont want to use spells so I'd rather not get the spell file. Can i still play? I used to play in VZTZ and was really good there so I know a thing or two about this kind of fighting.
