The PC that I'd like to try and play Project 1999 on is kind of weak. The only good thing about it is the processor. But I also have a laptop that needs fixed that might be a little better. I can't really afford to upgrade at the moment, and I'd love to start playing EverQuest again... (Can't pay for any MMOs, and none of the free ones look appealing.)

I used to play EverQuest back in the day until Planes of Power came out.

Here are this rigs specifications (as of CPU-Z)

It's an HP dx2300 Microtower

Intel Pentium 4 631 - 3.0 GHz
Idling at 2394.3 Mhz
(Socket 775 LGA)
(800Mhz FSB)
(2MB L2 Cache)

512 MBs PC2-5300 (333Mhz) DDR2 RAM

Intel Express 946GZ Chipset (With up to 128 MB shared memory)
I'd like to point out that I got NeoSteam to run on this tower in 1024x768 with all the settings turned down to low.

The PC has a PCIex16 slot, but I don't have the money to buy a new card. Even if I did, I don't have a credit card to buy one cheap online...

The Laptop is a Compaq Presario R3000

It has a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz (unsure of what socket. Most likely 475.)
256 MBs PC 2300 RAM
Radeon Mobility 2800 (With up to 128 MBs shared memory)

It needs a new hard drive to get it working.

You definitely want something faster.. but since you cant afford to upgrade you may be able to play P99 and turn down draw distance and other video settings until you are satisfied with the framerate..

have you actually tried installing it and running it? If so, what is the specific issue? Does it run but is slow? If so then have you tried turning down all the graphical settings?

the hp tower should play p99. i started playing eq on an amd duron 800mhz with 256mb ram and an nvidia mx440 video card. it ran, but everything was turned to minimum.

Sorry for not responding. I've been busy as hell running around like a mad man. Then there was the Holiday weekend and now the storm. Just been hectic.

I wanted to play, but I haven't installed EQ:T. Just wanted to know what I could expect from this tower in ways of performance.

you will be fine, my computer is complete garbage and worse than yours and i run p99 with no problems at all grouping, raiding, or sitting at trak with 100 people...just turn off some of the options and shadows etc.

When EQ just came out i purchased a top of the line laptop.. at the time gateway had great stuff. It was a Gateway Solo Laptop - P3 400Ghz. Im pretty sure you will be fine.

Yeah, you should be okay to run EQ on that. As other s have stated, turn down the graphics options. The HP dx2300 Microtower would do better with an upgrade in RAM. I think if anything, the memory requirements of the operating system may impede performance a fair amount. I suggest giving it a try to see how it goes with minimum graphics settings. Good luck!
