PVP server compromise

Because there seems to be 2 main sides to this debate:

1) Red99ers (tz/vz crew) that want YT, CCing, Training, BCing etc..

2) Purple 99ers (red/blue people) that generally want no YT, ccing training or bcing.

Build 2 servers

Server 1 - with the base 99emu code with no rules, no gms ever and enable YT so they can get the server they want.

server 2 - with everything rogean is talking about in a pvp server.

Problem fixed for all :D

yes because yellow text goes hand in hand with griefing...not that this proposal has any merit to rogean anyway, he wont split the pop. with multiple servers.

The majority of VZTZ players (and players in general) do NOT want training/griefing, but do want the global text.


And since Rogean already suggested a pretty good compromise for the yellow broadcasts, there is no real need for this.

Whats this yellow-text bullshit people keep talking about?

The main pvp server that eqemu has seen was called vztz and one feature that was created was anytime a person got killed in pvp it would broadcast server wide a message in yellow text saying who died and by who.

Pros and cons to it.

Cons are few people can get too much of a kick out of yellow text and will do anything possible to get it. On the flip side other people will try do anything possible to avoid it. It creates a Cat and mouse scenario.

Pros are its awesome to see epic fights happen through the yellow text even if you are not involved. You could be a lvl 20 in HK killing goblins and all of a sudden see two guild fight over a dragon and can usually get a good picture of whos winning/won. Its also nice when a big name gets killed and takes some wind out of their sail.

If server was going to be the size of a live server during classic-velious i wouldnt see a big desire for it but since server w,ont be anywhere near live size and odds are wont reach even close to p99 yellow text kind of makes the players more involved even if they arent directly involved

That sounds like a great idea for GM hosted tournaments, ie: BotB, ToT. Sounds like shit for everyday play though.

Besides, the purpose of p99 is to be 99% true to classic isn't it? I don't see why it should be in the new server.

thats p99. Dont think its been said what red 99 will be. Given the fact that i have seen rogean talk about making pvp deaths have exp penalty and tossing an idea around about having some kind of serverwide pvp message i dont think they are going to try to have 100% classic as possible pvp. Just an assumption though
