Apogea is a "hardcore" Top-down MMO. Inspired by Tibia.
Honestly, when I played the playtest, it was the first game ever that gave me classic EQ vibes.
-XP Loss on Death. The higher level you are, the more xp you lose.
-No instancing
-no "shards" there could be like 300 (or more) people in one area at a time.
-central area for auction/item selling (like EC tunnel)
-map is extremely detailed with very in-depth quests
-every item upgrade feels extremely rewarding
-great loot tables. random mobs can drop *very rarely* sought after items
-interacting with npcs and using "keywords" in dialogue is a must to progress
-very charming graphics (2d, top down but very detailed)
-grouping required for higher end content
-there is open world pvp (random item drops on death. forced pvp during "blood moons" during these blood moons, more xp is gained and higher loot drops. however, you can stay in town during this time)
Trust me, this is a GEM of a game. If you liked classic EQ, I would check this out.
There have been 2 playtests so far. Currently, another playtest should be soon.

From the steam page: "We also like challenge. Here, triumphs are earned, not handed out. The journey is tough and the stakes are high. If you're looking for a game that doesn't hold your hand, this is it."
*not affiliated with this game in anyway.
