What is the best way to run P99 on a mac?

Hello, i recently moved to Seattle and i cannot afford net at my place so my PC is out of the question for now, all i have is my mac book pro i use for production and school, my question is, what is the best approach to take in using P99 on my mac?

I know that this is too hard resist any "get a pc" or "get a job so you can use your PC" type of advice, but please try to limit it so i can get a real answer. Thank you in advance to any who answer =)

My PC needed a new PSU and I didn't have the money to replace it but resorted to using my macbook pro for P1999. The best way to play on a mac is to run bootcamp.

Bootcamp is software already on your mac (assuming it's relatively new should be able to just application search for it on your mac to see if it exists). Bootcamp allows for your mac hard drive to be split and run windows and subsequently P1999. It's very easy to install i just googled installing windows on bootcamp and followed a youtube video.

However, Bootcamp does require a valid windows license so you'd need a copy of windows XP or newer. Windows also doesn't allow for heat detection with your macbook fan so when running windows you'll need to start up in OSX run a manual fan control ( I use SMC fan control) restart the machine which will continue to run the fan at set manual speed. Windows also fucks up something with battery usage and drains the juice fast so you'll be limited to being plugged in to play. you'd maybe get 2-3 hours tops on a full charge.

Isn't there a version of Wine in OSX? I'd download Wine, and run EQ through that.

Yup.

If you have a beefier machine and any cash to spare I recommend going the parallels root as previously mentioned for convenience, otherwise just go with Bootcamp.

The wine route doesn't work with project 1999. You need to edit a pathway, which is impossible to do on a mac, with wine, from my experience. Spent a whole week with several people trying to help me and I never figured it out.

thanks a ton guys for the responses, i am goin to go with bootcamp have 4gb ram and a 3ghz processor so hope i can run the game seamlessly through bootcamp, now just time to find a good place to find windows online.....a 100% wink legal wink copy if anyone knows a good place..

Ive been thinking about giving P1999 a shot as ive been playing eq since Kunark off and on and currently have been playing EQ Mac. I am considering partitioning part of my HD for Windows so i can play and was also surious on the success using bootcamp and any issues i may run into?

Any more input would rock!

well im still looking for a friend with a copy of windows i didnt even think that i couldn't use the non disc version when i run it thru boot camp, i'll let ya know how it goes when i try tho.

Luckly i work for a company that has mounds of win7 and XP disks so ill give it a shot this weekend and see what happens!
