It's been getting worse over the last month or two, but today - omg. After entering proper creds, I've been getting a steady mixed bag of
- hanging screen of nothingness
- zero servers listed on server select screen
- populated list of servers - but various failures after clicking Login
...but then, intermittently, I can get in the game.
Is this a server population issue? I've noticed Green has been pretty busy lately...

What's your service provider?
Mine's Verizon and they've been having issues lately.

When I have these symptoms it is always because I forgot to disconnect from my company's VPN.
The symptoms you listed sound like a network connection issue. Either you're getting a slow connection to the server or something along the way it's blocking it, repeatedly trying and getting through is when the connection improves it takes a different route.

There is a disturbance in the intrawebs - I was disconnecting every time I zoned.
I changed my DNS to google 8.8.8.8 and it improved things greatly.
Now it's like once a couple hours. May try some other DNS. Maybe a VPN might help? Not sure where the game is hosted. Does someone know and have a recommendation?
thanks

I’ve been seeing the same issues lately - blank screen, empty server list, or login errors after selecting a server. It’s been on and off for weeks.

I started streaming a Youtube video for background music. Since I started I haven't gone LD... In the network monitor windows it looks like a small sawtooth wave every five seconds...can't hurt right?
Well that sure jinxed things...

This may or may not help, but https://wiki.project1999.com/Tech_Support#Login_and_Character_Select_Screen_Pro blems has some ideas that have helped others.

Too many folks have all kinds of devices on their home networks and then call folks like me. One thing I see is they have a house full of devices and streaming television running concurrently with their internet usage.
If you aren't sure how many devices are on your network this applies to you.
The issue you guys are talking about might be related to your ISP, but as a practical thing i wonder what would happen if you disconnected everything but your computers from your home network. And if you want to get fancy the network equipment (modem, router, switches etc.) provided from your ISP probably sucks.
