View Full Version : Error 1017 - Tried (almost) everything?

I've scoured the forums for every solution and have (almost) tried them all. On the off chance I'm not the only one still dealing with this, I thought I'd give a new thread a shot.

Every time I log in (on any of my accounts), I get the Error 1017. As suggested elsewhere, I've tried -- and forgive my technological incompetence:

- A fresh Titanium install
- Double checking latest patch files are correct
- Adjusting clock speed (though base clock speed of my lowly intel i5 is 2.5GHz, and my understanding is that issues arise north of 4.0)
- The whole "patchme" thing
- Everything I read that could help re: eqclient.ini
- Logging in on mobile hotspot (same error)
- Tried on a second laptop (same error)
- WinEQ2

My best guess is that I recently moved (Indiana->Illinois) and this is a new problem to me that I never experienced before the move. Maybe network related? Or would hotspot have ruled that out? My last idea is a VPN, but I have no knowledge of or experience with those and want to ensure I've truly exhausted all other options.

I wouldnt expect VPN to produce any different results if you already tried connecting via a hotspot but maybe there is nuance that I don't grasp.

The thing that stuck out to me about your post is adjusting clock speed. There was an incident a while back where an adjusted clock speed lead to a player running faster than intended. Not a lot of details were provided as staff didn't want the issue to be duplicated but I suspect that safeguards were added and that any manipulation of clock speed would likely produce issues.
