Does it have any? I noticed on the wiki guide some of the npcs involved are on True Spirit, which I thought was only for the sham epic. It makes no mention about faction requirements when doing turn ins though. Anyone know for sure?
I'm apprehensive to the Tenal Redblade guy in EK gorge, but he does talk to me if I hail him.

Anybody know? It's the True Spirit thing that is sketching me out, because I know the sham epic is super faction dependent and if you don't have the right level of faction when turning stuff in it can get eaten.
I'm a gnome warrior and afaik I've never killed anything that would break the epic.

I can't say for certain, but ... there is zero mention of faction on https://wiki.project1999.com/Warrior_Epic_Quest, and probably 1k+ warriors have used that guide to get their epic.
If none of them ran into faction issues, I doubt you will.

That's my thinking too just wanted to get confirmation. Haven't even started the quest but I didn't wanna get half way through and lose a turn in or something, cause that would certainly be part of the classic experience haha

Not familiar with warrior epic but barring exceptions you don't need to work on faction for epic outside quest steps. In the shaman case it is so you don't just show up to rak'ashiir with your iksar tear and be done with it. Enchanter epic doesn't have faction AFAIK but like almost every single step is combined into a bag for the turn ins so you can't really MQ/skip anything.
If you haven't killed major quest NPCs and follow the progression I think you'll be fine. Best way to double check is to hail the mob and go through the dialogue. If he gives you the quest you're most likely fine. Like for the sash/headband part of the monk epic if you don't have the silent fist(?) faction they'll tell you to come back when you've proven yourself if you go through dialogue.

In theory, only time you need to faction is if the quest gives faction during small steps and the next one won’t respond to prompts without it. Many of those you can cheese with invis though.
If I was doing the warrior epic quest I’d certainly make sure there are no issues with quest prompts. Even if you were paranoid and wanted to faction to ally with TS it only takes about 1.5hrs and a few beers. Then you can MQ Childs tears for fun too, lol.

Have you ever done a shaman epic? Isn’t that the only way to drop true spirit faction, so the only way you may make problems for epic hand ins?

Even that you only lose faction on the hand-in for the epic. My ranger is ally with Truespirit and has retained it for triggering the CoM fight. I MQ’ed my gnarled staff to my wiz with him having a buddy pilot one char.
Talking to the quest mobs is a good way to confirm faction in general. No talky, no clicky.

Ok cool thanks for the replies. Faction in EQ just always spooks me out. I did do a sham epic once on blue and I just remembered it was really faction dependent, and you *had* to be max ally for the final turn in. I also seem to remember trying to start the druid epic once and the dude in burning wood wouldn't talk to me because I had been naughty at some point and killed something I shouldn't have, but I had no clue what it was.

Shaman epic is easy you just do all the steps and get a real epic, if you fake out faction to skip fights you get the looser epic (which is otherwise identical) or risk no epic if you fuck up.

Waiting for those ghosts takes real patience though.

Yeah I actually liked doing the proper sham epic quest instead of just cheesing the faction and skipping to the end. Plus the insta-click sow boots are nice to get. Then I saw some war epic mobs are on true spirit (for some reason I don't understand lore-wise) and I was like oh shit... right, faction. That's a thing. First time ever playing a war much less doing the epic, didn't wanna beef it on any important turn ins.

When I did my shaman epic I too did the entire quest. It is pretty fun. I will note as iksar even if you do the entire quest you still have to cheese the faction to complete it.

I do remember wizard epic also involved true spirit faction for some reason, I think they just used it as a catch all for most epic quest factions.

Most epic quest mobs you talk to for any class are on truespirit faction. "True Spirit" while it sounds shaman-y and is very delicate during the shaman epic, has nothing to do with shamen. It is just the faction that epic quest mobs are on and was implemented to try and prevent people from skipping steps during their epic quest.

Imo p99 should use a flag system instead of faction system for epics. Lets close these exploits.

You can ruin your True Spirit faction if for some reason you kill mobs that are on that faction, but those aren't mobs one would normally kill. It's also pretty easy to fix it again.
All warriors start with enough True Spirit faction to do the quest without needing to work on it. There's really no reason it should ever be an obstacle to anyone.
