I feel like this might be a dumb question and I’m just missing something, but I can’t get my newly 60 Ranger’s weapon shield to work.

I have two 60 Rangers, one I’ve had on blue for years, and one that just hit 60 on green. I’ve used weapon shield on blue for years to bump in raids etc, and I’ve never had any issues; I hit the discipline and it just works. I just hit 60 on my Ranger on green and tried using it against a random mob in KC when I was close to dying. For some reason it didn’t seem to work, I continued to take melee damage for the duration of the discipline. I’ve tried it several times since then and still, every time, I take damage while the discipline is active. Stamina bar is full and I can’t figure out why it’s not working.

Again, this might be dumb, and I might be missing something. Any help?

Edit to add: The attacks are all frontal melee attacks, just in case someone might think it’s because I was being hit from behind.

If you are attacking and get riposted, I think that may make it through weaponshield? Edit: oh saw you said you take dmg for the duration of the disc. Who knows.

Oooh. my. god. That’s it I totally somehow made it all the way to 60 without training parry. That’s….embarrassing. Thanks so much rofl

Haha glad we solved it. On my second monk I forgot to train riposte, and when I dinged 53 I excitedly tried out Whirlwind disc and noticed it didn't work. Then I saw riposte skill 0.

Woopsie!

I really thought this was sarcasm initially.

Personally I found it hillarious that the correct response was l20, gg. Thanks for posting, OP. I am entertained.

The takeaway is that rangers are so naturally tanky that they won't even notice if they've forgotten to train parry.

Its just extra damage shield dps. Skipping dodge/parry is the meta move.

i think its the other way around. rangers are so used to taking so much damage that they assume their defensive skills are doing their job, its just a class issue
