Bad Bunny to headline Super Bowl LX halftime show (https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46416732/bad-bunny-headline-super-bowl-lx-half-show)

Bad Bunny is not currently touring the continental United States as part of his "No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí" (I Don't Want To Leave Here) World Tour because he is concerned that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) could target and detain his fans at or near concert venues. Instead, he is holding a residency in his home of Puerto Rico, which is a U.S. territory, allowing for U.S.-based fans to attend shows there.

I mean the dude did create like $400million in revenue for the economy of Puerto Rico I think was the amount reported. Probably only #2 to Taylor Swift in terms of economic impact in places he's performed.

NFL loves 2 things: Money and Eyeballs. It was an obvious match.

Outkick.com recently did a podcast stating:
"Do you think Bad Bunny is a good choice for the Super Bowl. He is not an American artist."

LoL, Bad Bunny is a Puerto Rican artist. Puerto Rico is part of America.

Even more ironic when considering the NFL probably went this direction to appeal to a more international audience as has been their focus with adding more and more international venues for games.

NFL int'l series is widely hated by fans and the games are usually terrible. The oddity of environment and travel makes otherwise good teams turn into pumpkins. 🎃

i'd watch NFL but they just don't have enough games. college football is lame and the fans are just awful, insufferable, peaked in highschool types.

baseball, hockey, basketball all still good. and fighting sports. i heard it on citations needed years ago that sports are the closest thing americans have to an actual culture.

American is a generalization and North America alone has cultural differences that have been observed to vary across pretty distinct geographical boundaries, depending on the methodology and researchers.

Sports have inherent drama in the very contest and I think that's part of what makes them fascinating. In the U.S. the Olympics is largely broadcast and produced by NBC. Have you guys heard or witnessed the time(s) when NBC cut away from a live event to air some bullshit fluff filler segment and missed capturing a world record performance? Most sports in the U.S. are pageantry and brought to you by corporate advertising and even the U.S. military in large financial part. So I don't watch the halftime show anymore because the actual game isn't worth the reductive nature of the show itself as produced. And I've never met Bad Bunny but respect to the islands and anyone arguing Puerto Rico isn't a part of the U.S. should tell this to their (Puerto Rico's) representative in Congress because this may surprise them.

All of those things including shitting on John Wayne I absolutely agree with.

Dude, I had no idea going into it that Bone Tomahawk would be a pretty gnarly horror movie. Reminded me of when I first saw From Dusk Til Dawn and had no idea it was a vampire flick going into it.
