If it was just down completely, I'd expect Rogean was doing some maintenance on it, like updating the security cert. The fact that it's up but slow, and showing some sort of cached fallback page at times, makes me wonder if it's instead under a DDOS attack (or something similar).

Yeah sometimes it loads, sometimes it won't load and sometimes it is just all screwy. Been like that since ~11h00am EST or so, possibly earlier.
I feel like it has to be a DDoS.
Message reads:
"Try waiting a few minutes and reloading.
(Can't contact the database server: Too many connections (localhost))"
It's happening now at 3:21 AM. There aren't even 500 people online between all 3 P99 servers. If the "too many connections" diagnosis is the truth, there's no way it's organic activity.
Though I suppose some sort of network issue could cause bandwidth issues that might be misdiagnosed by a system that automaticlaly detects and identifies issues.

Yeah I thought it was weird that it stated too many connections. Typically that would be a DDOS attack. Could be a disgruntled player who may or may not be satisfied with their experience. But that's just me making assumptions.

Sometimes they just DDOS shit for pure mischief too.
my vote is it's someone who doesn't play and prolly doesn't even know wtf EQ is, just charlie checking the wire.
same with the 50,000 guest accounts we see sometimes, just a random person scrapping the forums for AI

Would make sense. Lots of similar sites are currently stuck dealing with requests from AI scrapers, it has become a real problem.

Glad to know it isn't just me then.
Been doing it for 13 hours though.
