Is anyone aware of a guide to Siren’s Grotto that would be comparable to Wedar’s guide to the Hole?

Never seen a guide, there are some good youtube videos of people doing the main 2 camps.

What exactly are you looking for in SG?

I’m not looking for anything. It’s just been a zone of interest that I never got to spend much time in, so I was hoping to read a little more about it.
after watching a enchanter have to charm stuff to get me my dragonbane herb, i think the guide can be summed up in two words, "don't go"

If/when it receives nerf, very different zone. Classes other than dru/enc might actually farm and xp there.

IIRC that nerf was post velious so I don't think this is ever happening on here.
Sirens is the Droga of Velious. Pointlessly difficult unless you are certain classes.

I think some druids farm sirens but even chanters I think they only touch 2 mobs in there, one being very difficult.

Surprisingly in-era. OG devs took note of its emptiness and of the negative feedback received from players. Among other things, resists were reduced across the board. Even the entrance area by CS zoneline went from 3 mobs down to 1.

Makes sense because right now it is a difficult zone for a group with very little reward. Outside of felspine/shimmering I'm not aware there's anything good worth grouping for down there.

I remember on live back in the day going to Sirens at level 65 during GoD era with a group and getting whooped trying to explore the zone.
What an OP zone. How many people go up into the castle area? How many mobs in Sirens on p99 have never been killed by anyone? Does anyone do anything besides the beach / zonelines?
So many questions

Early into Velious there were occasional groups, even raids there, on blue at least. I remember pet pathing being horrendous and causing at least one full wipe. Fun though, just needed enough CC to avoid being overwhelmed.

The castle is cool. Shame it wasn’t balanced before release.
Would have been a great camp if there was a decent named in there.

wts runed sea shells, Flawless diamonds, Pristine emeralds, Black Marbles, Immaculate shell horns (3x) Walrus skin drums or Netted kelp robe on blue.

The temple is a pain in the ass camp. If i can get a Boltransable icy servant, i can kill the entire camp + all the mermaids + all the seahorses in the immediate area.
If i can't get a pet, which they are kind of rare bc icy servant spawns level 53-56, literally the most efficient way to kill the elementals is to paci on my enc, /exit, and duo the icy w/ my monk + a shaman. If they are waterys, you can kill them with almost any pet, they are the weakest mob in SG.
So 90% of the fighting i do w/ my enc is above ground unless im fighting a water mob. And then ofc unless i cant get an icy pet, which then the best pet available is an allurable neriad maiden. Lol.

It is a cool zone, but most of the camps (at least when I played a few years back) were done by factioned characters and were very cheesy. If you never killed anything there, a click of a OVP gets you to non-kos if you want to explore.
Fellspine in particular was a 0 skill camp as long as you knew the mechanics. Your Dictated pet would kill Fellspine before it wore off 100% of the time. As long as you /exit before the kill you didn’t take a faction hit.
Drums became similar too. People found a spot(s) where there were enough mermaids that if torched could kill an Icy before Dictate wears off. It became a really easy camp where you just dictate a pet and send it to its death every 5 mins. You’d die occasionally because sometimes the mermaids would summon you into the water after the pet died. . There was a safe ramp there, so was easy to get a rez. I didn’t spend much time doing drums, but know it was camped often for awhile.
There were a few people like Prismatica that regularly did temple. I heard it got pretty annoying when someone would go in and kill a Boltransable Icy with full pet gear then you’d have to spend hours trying to get a new one to pop. That camp in its heyday was the best place for BP gems. I think low server population on blue makes those a lot harder to sell now.

Dumb question but how would /exit before the kill work if you're soloing with a pet? Wouldnt the mobs stop fighting each other?

I think your pet still goes at it while you're present even if LD.
I'd be curious to know if charm broke the second you /q'ed if your pet turns on you or just goes limp.

It’s been years since I’ve done it but pet would continue to kill Fellspine after you quit out. It was a 100% success rate if you got the pull right and the pet hasted correctly. You would occasionally die when you came back in if you warped on top of the pillar. If you clicked off illusion and didn’t camp right against the wall it helped a lot. Was a lot of easy plat made when belts were 30k plus before everyone knew the strategy.

Would take longer, and have more deaths happening, without Lull being incorrect on p99. Need to charm more things and /q out more before the main fight to clear the way enough for the pet to not die from the surrounding MOBs.

Agree for most camps, but for Fellspine you only have to paci 2 mobs. Based on the way they path and using bind sight, you can easily get off a gate before they get to you on a crit. Only die on a gate collapse. Entire fight start to finish takes less than 48 seconds. Maybe 15 seconds after the last lull lands to actually pull. It is a stupidly easy and low skill camp which is why belts are so cheap now.

I mean, Paci isn't supposed to actually do anything, so those 2 extras will need to be reverse charm killed first, and with the icy servants if you're trying to clear those away it creates the extra problem of their damage shield causing all the other MOBs to summon after it dies since they will now be damaged enough. So in that instance we're looking at needing to mez the adds, blind the target to prevent a summon after the pet dies, and either gating out or hopping out of the water and risking a /q

On the other hand SG gets nerfed feb 2021 and june 2001 and that wasn't patched on P99 so it is way harder than supposed to be. NOT CLASSIC.

I don't think those changes are relevant to the camp, it was just some entrance MOBs that get removed and some of the MOBs having their damage lowered a bit, which doesn't change the necessity of needing to clear them.

From the archive that got dug up in the bug thread the level of a lot of mobs were in the 45-49 range which means they don't summon and they hit in the 150s which is like a 40% drop. Less MR and icy servants don't have the 500dd anymore. That is a massive change, it puts it around sebilis in the difficulty range.

In the entrance areas, not deep into the zone. Icy servants are also still doing the breath attack according to every report after the revamp (https://www.project1999.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2792393&postcount=18), dunno where the talk came from about them not having it anymore. In another revamp of SG in 2003 the icy servants were removed from the zone entirely.

I love the fact that it is a difficult zone. It gives me something to look up to :O
I didn't see it mentioned, but it is also necessary for the 7th Coldain Shawl.
