New user still seeing "Need new spell file"

Hi, I am a new user to P1999 and I appreciate the help with my noobness. I went to http://www.project1999.org/forums/showthread.php?t=26504 and downloaded the spell file at the top of the page. I saved the old spell file to a backup folder and over rode the new one. This, however did not work. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
