I saw a random post, and decided to give Xpadder a try, with an Xbox controller. Let me tell you, this has really made the game easier to play for me. I can set up my laptop on the coffee table and play on the couch while my wife watches a show. She loves it too, since I don't have a keyboard and mouse clicking away, and we can each kind of do our own thing before bed.

I feel like it was alot easier than I was expecting to set up my keybinds.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions, with their experience on a controller and p99? Keybinds, Macros, really anything to improve that maybe I haven't thought about.

Thanks

Just make sure its only a 1:1 key bind, hardware macros are not allowed

The official limit is:

5. You may not use third-party programs on Project 1999.

The use of any third-party programs on Project 1999, including but not limited to, Macroquest/Macroquest2(MQ/MQ2), ShowEQ(SEQ), or any other program that interacts with the Everquest Titanium Client, is strictly prohibited. Use of any third-party programs will be detected and will result in the permanent banning of your account(s). No exceptions will be made, and once a ban has been enacted for violation of this rule it will not be reversed.

This includes programmable keyboards or other devices that creates multiple inputs for a single keystroke or automated task.

Wineq2 by Lavishsoft is the exception to this rule. In addition, any program that strictly reads log files is acceptable.

(But that technically leaves open the possibility of other "hardware macros" that don't create multiple inputs for one keystroke.)

Back to the OP, the main thing I'd recommend is using "modifier keys" (e.g., having buttons for SHIFT, ALT, etc.) to open up a lot more options.

Depending on your software (I don't know Xpadder), you may be able to create your own "modifier keys". For instance, you could make it so that if you press B normally, it triggers "1", but if you hold A while pressing B, it instead triggers "7".

Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant in-game macros, not 3rd party or controller macros.

And yes, totally. I have my right bumper set to shift, which gives me alot of extra keys.

Just a quick run down of my current binds.

Left stick: WSAD
Right Stick: Mouse
D Pad Up: Spell Book
D Pad Left/Right: Arrow Keys for spell book pages
D Pad Down: Sit, RB+D Pad Down: Duck
LB: Tab
RB: Shift
Left Trigger: Left Click
Right Trigger: Right Click
Menu button: Inventory
View Button: Bag open, RB+View Button: Bag Close
ABXY: 1,2,3,4

Trying to figure out some good buttons or binds for the trigger clicks L3 and R3

It might help to know your class. I'm guessing from that setup (and the lack of 5-8 bindings or an ALT binding) that you play a melee of some sort?

The extra buttons are RB+ABXY for 5-8. RB+X: 5, etc. I was trying to find an option for ctrl and alt.

I am currently soloing a necro, and he's 29 atm. I have multiple 60's and 50's of everything else, minus a SK and Pally.

I did a rogue because it had so few button presses, and it was fun to grind and raid with.

But not so much play with because you type so much in normal play like to say hello or go to hell.

Absolutely, there's no way I could raid like this. But, it's so relaxing and convenient for solo leveling.

Maybe bind ALT-T? Default is a quick look behind you button for approaching mobs/rear view toggle masquerading as the titles menu in the client.

Or Shift-T; I can't recall now.
