What classes would pair well with the rogue class if it was just a duo? I was thinking of a necromancer and rogue doing fear kite would be cool. Any ideas I'd love to hear them thanks!

I did a lot of that duo on my rogue,it's pretty effective but a lot of chasing stuff around.
Druid works well to for the same reasons, the druid snares and flame licks and you chase. The benefits being a better snare, sow and ports but you lose the pet dps
Shaman rogue is really effective to,shaman buffs + slow.
Shaman tanks and stab stab. Need fungi tunic/staff to make it constant killing though.

I went to 60 in 2001 with a rogue/necro combo. Just always be fear kiting.

Yeah as others have said, basically any class that can fear kite. Enchanter might be interesting if they fear plus have another backstabbing charm pet. But really you'd rather have a class that can snare as chasing a full speed mob around is a pain in the butt.
Do Druids get a general fear spell or only animals? Can't remember. If they get a general fear spell then they might be the best bet since they can buff/heal you in the event fear resists and you've got a mob whacking on you. If they don't get a general fear spell then I would go Necro.
Not sure how valuable DoTs would be here as at least in the earlier levels I'd assume a rogue would burn the mob down pretty quick with backstabs.
Other option is a pet class that can root a mob in place and pet tanks while you run in and quickly backstab when the CD is off. But that's not that efficient, so really you need to be fear kiting.

rogue is a trio class unfortunately
fear kiting is an option - but lets be real...nobody is trying to chase mobs around for 60 levels

shaman at 60. before that, prob pally. dont fear kite, ,that's a miserable experience for a melee.

Anything that is effective at taking hits so the rogue can BS is a good combo.
Shaman is a popular choice since it has other tools and slow is OP.
But any tank or hybrid that can handle tanking/aggro can work and be a good fit. Have fun!

Wife and I started fresh rogue and bard on green server and found it to be one of the best duos. Powerful bard snare makes for relaxed fear kiting/aggro kiting and also allows you to basically give unlimited backstab access, selo's for quick escapes, HP bar maintenance with Hymn, haste song, charm and mez for CC, and mez spam for casters in non-fear-kiteable areas... I highly recommend bard tanking as much as possible too, you'll never be a melee class or a main tank but you'll want all of that defense in a pinch and melee skills to make kills go faster.

Shaman, bard, paladin, i'd say. Cleric in a pinch. Anyone that can root, tank and heal

It really comes down to what the non-rogue player wants to play and if the rogue player doesn't care to chase down a feared mob. If fear is not an issue, I would go druid, necro, bard and perhaps Sk in that order. The utility on Druid puts in number one for me but go for whichever you fancy.
If fear is a no go, then I would go Shaman, Pally and Sk. Shaman is self explanatory while the Pally would be a lot of fun albeit slower than Shaman.

kinda depends on level of twinking too

Dependent on gear/twinking. If self found the answers given are probably the best.
If both toons have access to a fungi; War or Monk would work with rogue and in my opinion have the most DPS output to melt mobs. I solo’d a warrior to 60 with truncheon of doom, when I felt like mixing it up and grouping rogue or monk were always my top pick for duo. Truncheon/fungi/blood points are already pretty nice soloing on a warrior, add in a rogue and no need for a healer if purely exping. Monk with a fungi as a partner just give the monk a 5 second head start to build some aggro and your golden.

With a fungi, good 2 hander, and Deepwater BP, a Pally would be a great option (Narandi Crown makes a big difference too). Think that would be far preferable to chasing around feared mobs. Zero agro issues and the dps makes up for the Pallys biggest weakness which is lack of dps.

Everyone complaining about chasing feared mobs. If you also snare it's the simplest thing in the world.

I don't have any experience with duo'ing with a Rogue but chasing feared mobs to backstab them seems like it would be pretty anti-fun for hours on end. Also as someone who plays a Necromancer I can't imagine feeling much of a benefit from duo'ing with a Rogue.
I have duo'd with a Rogue as a Shaman though. I usually root tank the mob. Obviously this isn't ideal, but in a lot of situations at 50+ when you can't find a full group in Karnor's it's better than nothing. Also with Shaman slows almost any melee can tank, right? Like I've had lots of Ranger tanks with my slows and they barely took damage. Regrowth keeps them pretty high HP.

Shaman slow tanking is a great strategy, especially if you have some nice gear like Fungi Tunic and Fungi Staff. The Rogue and your Shaman pet do good DPS to kill the mob quickly, so you won't take as much damage as a solo Shaman slow tanking.

People wouldn't complain if EQ had an option to auto-follow while auto-attacking.

the correct answer is shaman
but fully twinked paladin / SK / monk works too

Shaman is amazing with rogue. I've helped my friend level 3 rogues with my shaman. It's so, so good. Root + Slow and let the rogue backstab while you tank the slowed mob. At 60 it's even better with Torpor.

Shaman at 60. But if you have a twinked pally with dw bp then that’s also a strong contender.

Rough
not at all
bard was epic + fungi + eye helm
monk was epic + fungi + beads
my rogue was epic + fungi
all with good raid gear, about level 56, at slabs
i never had backstab off cooldown for more than 2 seconds for about 4 hours

Sounds fun but would get smoked in seb or hs west or dogs or any somewhat challenging zone.

That trio should be perfectly fine for most things. Split stuff as needed with the Monk, high DPS with the Rogue, and the Bard fills in all the other gaps.
