Kunark the true expansion for Everquest enjoyers that don't want to be no lifers.

Also potential to make this a normal seasonal Levelling box with accelerated EXP etc if the people ever get thirsty enough.

It's basically a show home, a prototype, and also just seeing if people are interested in a Kunark PVP box. It might not have 100% uptime but if it builds a following I will work more on the content/ 100% uptime, and basically stress test and all of that.

I appreciate the offer to help or chip in but not necessary doesn't cost me anything to run, I've done most of the work already and can do anything content wise quests, items, npcs, spawntimes etc, it's all fairly basic.

The hard stuff has already been done Classic Spell Icons / Classic Skeletons, wolves, snakes / Content reverted to 1.0 CT, RE, Droga / Removal of non classic structures/npcs/new shit. Leaderboard, YT etc etc. Shout out to Bamzal for the coding, Leaderboard/Classic shit/PVP Melee adding new rules. Level Range all the coding shit.

It's mainly Takp patched into PEQ they are both compatible DBs and you can put in TAKP as needed quite easily.

The server is running pretty smoothly and it’s a lot of fun. I like starting at level 60. I think that will level the playing field a lot in a sense that it’s not a huge investment just to get to the end game content which unlike other games there is a ton of.

I was attempting to create a similar server but I am not a coder and was hoping ChatGPT would get me there. So currently have that server in a data center but not using was why I offered. This is a great option for players wanting PvP and getting more people to the end game for the battles. I could never take the time to get there on red 1. I would be ok with very accelerated so you spend some time in the lower content too.

I noticed charm was not working very well or it’s my charisma due to lack of gear. Maybe something to check on.

Yeah I dug into the charm formula at one point, the way it actually works is you get a resist check every so long I forget exactly how long every few server ticks, Charisma helps with that resist check as well as level/MR I believe it checks it all each resist check.

Has been awhile I don't have all the details specific but I think Charisma translates into reduced break resist tick chance.

I guess saying break chance would be clearer lol. The original cast is just MR/Level based I believ,e then each break tick chance is CHA/MR/Level rolled into a formula.

I went down a rabbit hole of well permanent charm and endless buffs etc etc all that type shit but just ended up scrapping it all and going full no custom Red99 based Kunark. It's pretty legit and hard, and even though it's instant 60 it's still a challenge.

Bug fixed itself. I had a character that dced and then for some reason all the characters on the account could barely move or cast spells. It fixed itself about 5-10 minutes later.

Very fun experience. Me and another player on server got king tranix down to 19%. We also had atleast 3 people playing today on the server which is huge growth given the couple days the server has been up. I do very much think this is the classic Everquest experience and I don't see any difference between this and the VZTZ experience, except for the amount of players. I would recommend this to anyone, especially, if you are like me, and have a full time job. Being level 60 makes it so much easier to get the gear. I personally started in guk grabbing the essentials and then to solb. Moving onto Karnors, COM and Sebilis next. Really looking forward to more people playing.

Not that I want to shit on VZTZ but the Dev umm Voidd came back released a box, didn't have any of the old VZTZ stuff working so he had to use a version of ROZ from Skeeter.

Which had pets max hitting for 60 dmg each hit quad hit, plus a 100% stun kick every time. Really sloppy content/feeling/pathing I mean it was all old and junky ROZ which was Image/Devnoob shit.

I am not saying at one point VZTZ wasn't the pinnacle of EQEMU PVP, but I think it's gone for good.

My box uses current PEQ DB, with all TAKP 1.0 content patched. The pathing, the agro/mob functionality is superior I can't say how much twice as good.

Also the Melee code was altered in the source code, I located the parts in the source code that was obviously made by EQEMU and unclear on how things worked. They had 66% dmg nerf apply to melee and spells, also there was an additional EQEMU added PvP Mitigation changeable rule not sure if it was ever concluded as just AC, or if it included other avoidance, but Bamzal found that and was disabled with a new scaling rule for us. Maybe necessary for further expansions where shit got out of control? Not sure why they did it. Bamzal coded and compiled that shit for me though, I just found it interesting to read through the source code on how shit is calculated. There was also a Pet PVP dmg nerf, obviously the 2/3 spell dmg is in place. Think that's all of the PVP changes.

I'm 450 pounds trying to kill my chair 24/7 and you won't catch me grinding hardmode EQ. 10 max % a kill I'm a fart in the wind.

What people really want is to have PVP enabled on Quarm basically and get to just make a real mess of shit. Look I get it. I blocked the guk tunnel on Quarm, took me 15 hours to get level 9 or something.

I just don't think people will do it, if they do it for red99 2.0 it will be brief, and most will leave like red99 1.0, they especially won't do it for my box.

Guild v Guild PVP or nothing IDC about the purple players who want to solo grind a pvp box with 20 people.

Progression of Red99 GMing as documented in the archives.

- Amelinda lets Nihilum wall bug Naggy 1 week into the server and kill him with lvl 40's.

- Amelinda perma bans Holocaust because I wall bug Naggy after we beat them in PVP.

- Derubael sells banned pixels for RMT.

- Tune trains in Fear on his cleric with instant log out /q and IP exemption for 2nd character. They have been doing it in SolB for weeks on Emumu and others.

- Kunark all mobs no variance, killed by one guild, one day a week for years. Nothing done to stop it.

- Sirken becomes GM who is good pals with Gongshow who runs Nihilum. Awards an AON to his pal Cwall, eventually gives GM favors for pictures of fat chicks that play on Blue.

- I quit for 8 years or so. Come back and now GMing in current Red99 is whoever is the biggest crybaby recording bitch to the GM's, the other person apparently gets permanent banned. Blanket guilds bans and blanket account bans because they want to "clean it up"

- Lewis apps GM as Dester, probably a liberal, enforces his gay sex on everyone.

- Box is officially dead.


So in conclusion I won't be doing that. The main problem we face is no one plays EQEMU for PVP, it's basically just reliving the PVE grind. It's been that way on Red99 since day 1. It's pretty much hopelessly dead RIP.

I created a character on this server just to look around. Honestly it looks great - first and foremost the simple fact that it works with the p99 client and I don't need a separate install.

Also starting at 60 with all skills+spells but penniless with no gear is a fun twist. Not having to grind all of this is the main barrier to entry. If I had more free time and a group of like-minded friends it really could be a lot of fun.

A couple of things jumped out at me after a few minutes:
- The spellbook is quite the mess. I will probably have to spend a solid 30 minutes rearranging it. I don't think there's any solution to that, though. I was thinking maybe instead of scribing every spell, start with an empty spellbook and a vendor that sells them all for free. That way I can just scribe the 30 spells I need instead of swapping and moving all of the useless spells out of the way.
- The memblur component of Level 4 Mesmerize seems broken.

Unfortunately it's just a script to grant all the spells available to your level I didn't hand pick them etc place them.

That being said all the spell values are p99's spell values, the mobs use the appropriate era spell lists, for their level etc. Me and Bamz spent some time on the spells. 2/3 PVP dmg reduction umm. Dots etc are all accurate.

Thanks for the comments bro it's a garage box I mean I don't lie about it, but given the current resources anyone can do this as long as they have a coder to do the harder stuff.

- Transfer and test VP from TAKP to mine due to revamped loot.
- Transfer and test The Hole from TAKP to mine due to revamped loot/mobs.
- Add quests to Droga
- Epic quest items have weird inventory icons, they show as a pearl choker, but otherwise stats and effects seem good I think it's a quick fix.
- Epic quests need to be verified/tested/sinew quest etc.
- PvP Stress test.

The instant 60 I think is inevitable, ROT/ROZ whatever you want to call it did the endless releases of boxes that people grinded over and over.

I remember them saying oh time to level the stables again, meaning they need a 60 druid ench cleric etc. On our box anyone can load up a 2nd 60 Cleric with a spellbook/ench/sham and help the raid along without having to dedicate their lives. Or you make the EXP rate so fast that it isn't horrible, but then it's just tedious and pointless.

It's the best I can come up with for Garage Box given the current landscape of no one playing this shit grinding endlessly by yourself isn't great.

I bet some targeted marketing could work.this forum is great but seems like anyoe that could play is playing another p99 server. I have to imagine there are a lot of players playing other games now like myself that hadn’t thought about these servers in years but would have come back for the PvP nostalgia if there was a good server andit was easy to get to the end game. We would need a website though and an instagram. Probably more investment to try then it’s worth.
