What is Original Content?
Original Content, noun, often abbreviated as OC
Content, usually refering to online content, that is new, unique, and/or original and was created by the person posting it (usually OP).
More generally, it means media, written works, jokes, or conversational topics that are not corny and haven't been beaten to death. Original Content is gold, it brings value into the world and light into the dark recesses of the Web.
It can also mean a new iteration or spin on an already-existing Internet meme.
The opposite of original content is a repost.
I can't give examples of original content, because then it would cease to be original content.
This thread is for OC of any, all kinds

Years of haggling in the tunnel on Project 1999 have given me an eye for treasures and an appreciation for anything well-crafted. I came upon these paintings which I'm pretty sure are oil on canvas from the estate of a deceased artist. These were what remained after the estate was sold along with most artwork. My job was to coordinate the removal of the unsold items. This was not the first time that I've come across cool artwork that was being thrown away, not unusually made by an artist whose family was selling off their artwork after death.
I photographed these and even kept a couple that really impressed me.

Just posted this on FB and my family seems to agree
It’s probably not a completely original thought, but it’s one I’ve had many times including recently:
“Rule of life: if you have a full cup with an open top in the center console of your car, that cup will become a black hole to all matter. Cords, fuzzies, bugs, loose coins, all will be drawn to that open cup like it has the gravitational pull of a dying star”

My hobbies include sound and music. Some improv with a new technique I'm playing with

Any piss-ant can criticize, but this thread is not meant as anybody's anthill to piss from. The theme of this thread is OC. The creation and sharing of original content is a brave act which itself supercedes the critiques of someone posting anonymously without they themselves contributing or creating anything but drama and questionable lulz.
Let's encourage (y)ourselves and each other! And post stuff!

I have become too shy to post my OC. it's actually a major problem for me.
I checked back on some 6 month old work and I think it's actually pretty good. At the time of completion & review, I feel nothing but embarrassed and ashamed by it. I really beat myself up and get sad. then in hindsight it's way better than I thought. Yet I STILL can't post my oc.
Lemme know if you have any tips and don't say therapy cuz I won't get it.

There's all kinds of therapy, not just talk therapy.
I liked your posts in Shovelquest's space thread and enjoyed reading them! One of my favorite recent finds on YouTube is a channel that does dives into space tech
I colored a birb today and pleased so far.

+ Coloring is always a popular activity in psych wards... I could never get into it, motor skills too terrible. I was more partial to solitaire, puzzles, or reading.
It's a nice bird

Is it?

Taken expansively those categories could include pretty much anything, no? Hope if you were admitted somewhere or had experience in psych wards however proximal that you're okay and safe.
It's a nice bird
Thank you :)

You've heard of mise en place (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mise_en_place), perhaps?
How about mise-en-temps?
You can see some notes on vehicle maintenance on the right side. I created this calendar with time proceeding from the bottom-right (past) moving right to left and to the future which is up. The first day of the week is also a Monday because I prefer it that way. Been using this orientation for my calendars for at least 5 years.
scheduled car maintenance very important 👍
dual monitor vertical white board calendar setup, interesting approach.

Thank you and it's paper but digital works too if you can or want to.
I believe the key elements of what makes this original content are the spatial orientations with respect to time as well as the continuity between months and having the entire year at a glance available in large format on a wall and space for notes as needed.

I was actually getting my rear differential serviced when I started coloring the bird I photo'd. The plan is to finish it at some point over the next year. The bird not the service :)
i should prolly look into getting mine serviced on my truck i don't think it ever has been.
coloring is cool, i should prolly try coloring or doing jigsaw puzzles or something to decompress instead of just doom scrolling and vidya games

It seems the intelligent recommendation is to get the official manufacturer service manual for your car. There's popular Haynes vehicle manuals that can be very illustrative but they aren't always completely accurate, usually auto parts stores have them.
Those are amazing! What's the first one you shared?

This painting depicts the legendary baseball manager Casey Stengel, often known by his nickname, "The Ol' Perfessor."
While you were close with the New York connection, this painting actually shows him in his later years as the first manager of the New York Mets.

Never heard of him until now but I can tell he must've been a character. No guarantee he had character though lest we forget. But how come you have his picture? May I ask?

"Nothing splendid was ever created in cold blood. Heat is required to forge anything. Every great accomplishment is the story of a flaming heart." -Arnold H. Glasgow
Long ago when the first humans were still close to and remained nearer their tree-dwelling cousins and weren't as far removed from them, Oog the ancestor wanted a mate but couldn't find one. It wasn't just for pleasure that Oog yearned. From some deeper need they longed for union with another. But there were no mates.
Oog sat down on the ground and felt the pain of loneliness. They tried to physically satisfy themselves but found no satisfaction that they alone could provide, no matter the attempt. Oog slumped as if wounded, disconsolate but still erect with a stick in their hand and started rubbing it between their palms on the ground. There was no reason for Oog to do this. But they continued, faster and on and on and on until they were astonished and terrified at the sight of what came. For Oog had rubbed the stick into a cinder!
Perhaps Oog then found a mate after this time. Perhaps they never lived to share his secret. But Oog or someone exactly like them told their tribe and today we have the technology of fire because of the conditions that gave rise to it. That spark inside of Oog that created fire has been studied in the days since and has given various names, and we today share this spark of Oog inside of us.
It is a force that defies labels like creative or destructive. It eludes notions of good and evil. What it produces may warm your hearth and it can simultaneously burn your house down. It is not love in a conditioned or cool sense: It is Eros -- its orgin common to the brightest dreams and most terrifying nightmares humanity has ever yet and will ever encounter. But if in your lives you use fire, or if you use something else superior to fire, remember the days before men invented it, and Oog. Because even the most commonplace trivial thing that we take for granted today, once was so new that it had not even been written down.
Tradition is not the worship of ashes but the preservation of fire. We are all Oog's descendents because their invention remains as our heritage to this day.
