The Snowdrift Elves Arrival - P99 Winter Event

The snowdrift elves, a lost race of elves known for their affinity to the cold and their desire to bring cheer to all, have found their way to Norrath for the season! Find them throughout the lands and learn more about their culture. Participate in their events during this holiday season, but be warned, while stories of the Snowdrift elves are few, what is known is that they will not be around for long!

Event Specifics:
The snowdrift elves have been hard at work! To bring a festive spirit to the citizens of Norrath, they have hidden gifts amongst the enemies of Norrath, and players who defeat non-trivial enemies have a chance to receive those gifts!

Players can choose to open gifts themselves or give the gifts to others, based on who is targeted when the gift is opened. Keep in mind what the Snowdrift elves stand for when deciding if you will open these gifts… For the best gifts are always those shared with others!

Be on the lookout for Snowdrift elves throughout Norrath. Learn more about their lore, participate in limited time quests to help them prepare for the Yule festival, and spread the goodwill and cheer that the season is known for!
Participate in the Yule festival near the culmination of the event, a true celebration of the season!

This is sure to be a season of merriment and joy, for Snowdrift elves and Norrathians alike! And, to celebrate the spirit of giving, we will be raffling off a temporary seasonal title on each server after the culmination of the event for players who have given away at least 10 more presents than they have opened themselves!

And, in addition to the fun planned by the Snowdrift Elves, there's still even more fun in store here on P99 for this holiday season. A 50% experience bonus and 100% loot bonus has been enabled across all servers! We hope everyone has a fun and magical holiday!

Essentially, it means that the mob has 2 loot rolls instead of 1, per possible loot. If a mob has a CHANCE to drop fine steel, it might have 0, might have 1, or might have 2 with this bonus. If a mob is GUARANTEED to drop a certain loot (Ring of the Ancients triggered quest drop, etc.), then it will always drop 2.

Really cool event, thank you guys! Only suggestion if I could offer one is to not make the gifts lore. If you're soloing in a remote location it's not time feasible to stop every time you get a gift to find another player, usually in a different zone to give them just one gift then return to your spot. Also you can lose your camp, etc. But still, lots of fun overall!

They drop off any mob I assume, I have been getting them off blue con mobs to my character and Ive gotten 3 so far
Its no drop but you can target other people to receive whatever the gift is so from the sounds of it you get better prizes if you give them to someone
Arrange a trade between friends who have unopened gifts, you give them yours they give you theirs and see if the gifts are better
My best item so far is a flawless diamond that i opened for myself other then that its been cookies and lumps of coal

Is there a lower level limit for mobs to drop gifts? If you create a level 1 character and kill like 10 level 1 mobs in a couple minutes is that more efficient than killing mobs with your level 50+ chars? Sorry it’s hard for me to not try to min-max this.

There was a "Jolly Mist" at one of the lifts in Kelethin yesterday evening on Green. Helped him decorate his tree with lights.

Got 2-3 presents very quickly a few days ago, have now done 20-23 without another present dropping which is quite surprising. I hope it's just a run of bad luck on my end

At one point I think there were five ice giants in a row that dropped ZERO plat and upwards of 75 gold, 125 silver and 170 copper. No giant dropped more than its usual 49p. So I assume the bonus doesn't apply to giant plat drops.

Just wanted to thank the P99 staff for this event. It was really fantastic. My guild was buzzing daily talking about gifts they'd received, or running around at bard speed talking to all the elves. A real blast!

Same here. Haven’t seen a drop in a while. Also they seemed to drop more frequently in dungeons compared to open world. Could’ve just been luck though.

I think you can get about 7 - 10 gifts on one toon before it starts dropping off drastically. Just made a new character and got like 6 in the first 30 minute noob yard session.

I think it is just RNG honestly. I had grinding sessions with one. I had grinding sessions with a bunch.
