Is the testing character a monk?

Shouldn't matter if one of the two races that can be monk? But maybe so. Character is a bard. That does raise the question of how it ought to appear on any other race though. It seems reasonable to assume that it should be black, if nothing else.

Velious monk only displays as monk on characters with monk class.

Would have some pretty sick looking lvl 1 iksar necromancers in bristlesilk otherwise. I wish it worked that way!

Guessing that's confirmed on live? Interesting that the default is classic leather. Refund demanded.
