I've gotten my Iksar Shaman to 12 now and I'm starting on Kurn's Tower. I'm able to pull greens and blues without an issue (unlesss I get very unlucky). I just want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.

- Buff up with Inner Fire + Strengthen
- Pull with Trainted breath + drowsy + auto attack
- Hit and refresh the above until dead and/or need to throw in a DD to finish them off

As far as gear goes I'm wearing a combination of Curscale armor, Shestar's coif, a Chrysoberyl Talisman someone nicely gave me, a fine steel morning star and an iksar target shield. Anything I could easily improve on? I have about 30 plat and one of the potions from the event which is apparently worth 600pp (though I doubt so now with the event).

Any help much appreciated

If you can sell the potion, even for 2-300p that will buy your spells for a few levels
If the mobs are dieing and your not, your doing great.
Which potion did you get?

teens are tough. when you are 20 you can go to the island in OT to farm gargoyls to make some pp for gear

Cheers. It's a lizard blood potion which seems to be worth a bit. Major issue is getting anywhere to sell it so I'll hold onto it for now

You might find someone willing to bring you a Jade mace or guard Captain mallet for it. Maybe even a generic velium 2hb. Post the server you are on and maybe someone will PM with an offer.

I’d might skip using slow for a while as the effect isn’t probably saving as many hps as inner fire would recover.

I'm on green at the moment

I'll try not using slow a bit and see how it goes thanks

Try to get one of these and pocket the rest of the cash. Iksars actually have a good 2hb animation and this will last you until it’s time to stop meleeing.

Don't use your dots unless you are really impatient, they are super mana inneficient. Also don't nuke. Just slow, and use your mana to heal yourself as you melee things down. If you buff your self / in a group and people ask for buffs, pretend you don't see the Agi buff in your spellbook, waste of time

Agree sell the potion and look for a Cheap PWC, you can find them for 400pp if you get a good deal and still have some plat left over. Aside from spells I would save up for a cheap haste item like silver chitin handwraps.

Once you get to the mid level range you will start getting pets, make the trip to buy those spells as they are well worth it, your low level pets are the equivilant of grouping with a warrior of that level with a fungi tunic on. They can take over tanking and do a lot of the DPS as well.

Shaman are also incredible at duo'ing with almost any class so keep and eye out for folks you can team up with to level more efficiently, especially starting with no gear you're likely to run into some people that are leveling brand new but fully geared alts.

Ok - having slowly been leveling a Cleric up, using PWC and basically tanking 1-~24 was not bad. Up to ~34 things kept slowing down and nuking did more dmg and by ~39 I felt I pretty much had to be a wizard aside from skills ups or finishing mobs off.

I say that because Shaman would be infinitely better at doing that with the tools you have. Maybe I am repeating what others have said in the thread but you will have very little down time doing this:

Buff STR
Slow
Melee
Sit after fight if needed or heal
Unlike cleric that keeps getting worse you eventually add
Haste
Better slow
Regen
Pet

I only ever played my Shaman duo, but I would wager with mild upgrades a Shaman could easily melee up to 45+ and do a mix of melee/dot/root in and out with pet to low 50s.

Have leveled 2 shaman to 60 and a third to 59. Here’s what has worked for me:

Levels 5-24). Kinda suck. Dots aren’t very efficient early on, and shaman melee dps is abysmal. But it’s what we got. Use drowsy and melee attack until dead. LEVEL YOUR BIND WOUND

24-34) a little better now with Cannibalize and regeneration, and now 2hb is viable with Poison Wind Censer. Highly recommend switching to 2hb, but same strategy. Use drowsy, face tank. PWC hits hard, so no DoTs are needed. Drowsy is also much more efficient than the first couple of slows after it (Walking Sleep and Tagars Insects are poopy)

34-49) companion spirit will change your life after spending 29 levels with just drowsy and melee attack. Upgrade pets as you level. Strategy is the same. Drowsy, pet attack, melee. Bind wound and cannibalize for more mana. Togors Insects is worth the upgrade in spells. Some decent DoTs too like Envenomed Breath.

Level 51 is the best spell in the game, Turgurs Insects. It’s still viable to face tank with pet attacks but now the mobs hit harder, and it’s actually more efficient to root rot (with or without pet attacking)
