Has anyone been able to get a virtual reality headset to work with EverQuest? Would be pretty cool to be completely immersed in the game. I have an apple Vision Pro and it’s a chore just to get a PC to window onto the Apple Vision Pro. Even when I do that, it’s just a flat movable screen that’s adjustable. I can make a 20 foot screen a few feet in front of my face. Might not be bad like that. Would be nice if it would curve or if you could get 180 degree immersion.

This guy has gotten the farthest that I've seen anyone get with the dream.

Follows the typical pattern.
Does some amazing work, breakthroughs and sets up an incredible potential project.
Disappears.
Lantern EQ (https://www.youtube.com/@lantern-eq/videos) was a project to port all the origional assets (at a very great classic quality) into Unity.
Which I was hoping would mean we'd finally get a working VR EQ.
But guess who's disappeared...

You can play P99 in steam theater mode pretty easily using the htc vive. I've done it.

There were some commercial products that would work well enough with dx9 games. 3 that I know of are VorpX, IZ3d and Tridef.
They would convert the single viewport camera in a dx9 game into two cameras and then render a stereoscopic view for a proper 3d view and not just a projection onto a virtual screen 20 feet infront of you. If you had a 3d monitor from the 2010s it was typically compatible, but I dont know if VR headsets still support stereoscopic rendering and mine is in storage so I can't try it.
