Per the title, I am looking for advice as to where to go as a level 47 enchanter. Raw experience is fine, experience and loot is better. I am noob with regards to what exists in the game post level 40, but I am confident in my ability to play the class well. Any guidance from veterans is much appreciated!

at 47, you could do giants in everfrost.
They are massive money gain, and exp.
you could probably do seafurries too.

city of mist is always a popular group area, karnor maybe once you get 2 more levels.
Maybe crystal cavern geonids? I don't know what level cutoff they are at.

There's always lower guk as well. I died so many times in lower guk.... so many times...
If you can manage it, crystalline shardwurms are really good for gems. tons of star rubies and possible spell drops. They might be a little bit too high though for you.

The Hole is some amazing exp if you can get into a group.
My advice is that if you're going the solo route, then know what you can and cant afford to bullshit your way into and out of.... if you're going the group route, remember that everyone always needs clarity.
They will bend over backwards and spread both of them wide for that crack.
Kinda like cleric, you can sometimes get into higher level area groups just for having clarity.

at 47, you might be able to get into karnor groups, though your lack of allure might hurt, that's at 49.

Don't listen to Rim he is terrible at this game.

@47:

If you want to make sure your charm skills are up to par, go hit City of Mist. Solo at the arena or moat. It should be easy. There is tons of room to work with, outdoor zone so you can utilize jboots / sow pots / friendly in-zone buffs in case you need to make a run for the exit. If it isn't easy you're not ready for HS.

CoM floor 2 is also an option when moat/arena greens out. You go to the right-hand side camp (forget the name) opposite of stables, go up to the top of the pyramid, lev across, and you're up. First time could be a little tricky, there is a mix of both undead and non, the goos see invis, etc. You can bind sight / lull, get a feel for the roamers pattern. If there are no goos in the path to arena roof, try to snag a double invis from someone in the zone. Then its ez pz.

Ultimately you're gonna need to get up there and get over to the top of arena. You can bind up there and take a good look down onto floor 2 and see all the spawns and make a plan for your clear. Its 100% safe for AFK, recovery, etc. Also can lev down to go trade buffs too with fellow CoM campers and just gate back up top.

Godspeed. I prefer HS myself. Hit up Kaesora and go get your key when you're ready.

I do a lot of afk type camps. 47, you can usually find me in The Feerrott killing one of the Bouncers (Hurd or Flerb), or spectres this can take you to 51, can sell to vendor near river. If all camped, I'll head over to WK maybe and kill corrupt guards, and fill up on bracers to turn in. If camped, Konia low hp level 40 no loot no faction in WK. If camped, then head over to surefall glade, Niera Farbreeze, another low hp level 40 no loot no faction. Eastern Wastes, just outside crystal caverns zone in Ry'gorr fort, there are several single pulls of blue cons like Orc Legionnaire. If you get in trouble, just run to Crystal Caverns.

Last week on my bard in KC I was in a group with a level 40 enchanter trying to CC.

It was pretty stupid but worked decently enough in that he was the only one who died (repeatedly).

Tox gives good advice here.

47 is what I always considered to be the last super easy level, because it's the last level where Level 35 MOBs (which exist in abundance without difficulty) remain blue. Steamfont is great, there are a bunch of Level 35's in close proximity to the windmill and the faction hit on Gnomes is irrelevant.

If you don't care about your faction, there are variety of Elf guards that can get you to Level 55 and are solid loot - go sell the equipment that drops at the Steamfont druid circle, if there isn't anyone around to vendor it for you (that's one of THE most Classic Everquest transactions - low level characters making some money by vendoring/banking for people hunting guards). Highkeep is a similar situation, a variety of NPC's to kill there, although tends to be more contested. Halas also has a bunch of Level 40's to fight, but might be empty these days if you're looking for someone to vendor for you. A bit further down the road, Neriak and Butcherblock/Kaladim can get you all the way to Level 60 if you want.

Spirocs in Timorous Deep are easy and can take you into the 50's. Nice scenery. Not great loot however. Tower of Frozen Shadow is great ZEM if you want to bother with the keying process, and Kedge Kedge if you want to bother with the tricky underwater combat and movement.

nobody is going to the hole or getting KC groups at 47 unless they're a cleric

Enchanter can solo The Hole at 47, the entrance area is totally doable and it's one of the best ZEM's in the game.

KC group should still take an Enchanter at 47 too. Just don't depend on them for CC. Clarity, Haste, and a Level 40 charm pet is already enough to pull their weight.

The first level of green is still reasonable xp, so maybe 48 is the ‘last easy level’? (And completing that gets you to 49 for new spells!

Re level for KC… yeah there are a bunch of level 40 mobs, it’s kinda unnecessary that the culture insists 51+ (my cleric did 40-44 at basement fine despite even higher level of mobs … obvs things r diff 4 an enc tho). Curate , c and haste will already add more to a group than most other players.

People go crazy for crack since it's, quite literally, a gamechanger.

on a more ironic note, 47 was also when I went to KC with my cleric.
Personally I agree though that 49 is better for KC for enchanter, simply for allure.
That, too, is a gamechanger.

What's weird though is that I NEVER hear anyone go so heavy to bat for charsis. Heck, I only get ress requests there once every 3 months... even Lord Gongo is more relevant.
I'm sure it's probably a nice niche zone though.

City of Mist - Arena group / Moat group, nuff said.

Allure is irrelevant at that level. Cajoling Whispers already charms things up to Level 46 and costs less mana.

I wouldn't say irrelevant due to the level variances in KC.
Some stretch above the 46 mark.

Additionally, 49 is another power level for enchanter. CHA buff increase, DoT increase, absorb shield increase, SLTW..
3 minute root if you're into that sorta thing too.
..a few other goodies too.

cajoling whispers can't charm some of the stronger decayed soldiers.
I still do think that it's a good idea for a 47 enchanter to get used to KC though.
The more experience they get, the less they will mess up later.

You're not trying to charm anything that high at that level. You want to keep a lower level NPC charmed so it will break less.

fair point, but some people live dangerously, aka charm the biggest mob, haste it, give it weapons, buff it's strength, send it to kill.

There's a pretty huge difference in DPS between a hasted decayed soldier and a low level curate.

I guess at 47 though even a drovlarg would be fine. but when that level 49 comes, obby

Thats fine if you have mana free rez on hand, and someone good at helping manage charm breaks, but even so I’d prefer the consistency of a curate.

There's been quite a few of those clicky clerics in karnor lately.
Would be one more if I could get together a group for the overking and ragefire.

City of Mist moat is solid xp.

Lower Guk - sage/exec/cav camp over toward the safe hall is decent xp. You'll want to take it slow until you learn the bathing. Can check ass/sup camp for a shot at a TBB or a large spoiled bag.

OOT - seafuries are ok plat even with the nerf to gem drops. At 49, you can comfortably handle the AC camp as well. Xp is decent when there aren't too many people there.

Some outdoor spots like dreadlands, traks teeth spec keepers, are a nice change of pace. Roamers get annoying.

At 50 you can try out the hole entrance. The named are rough, but the regular mobs are straight forward.

51 you'll want to migrate to HS or the second floor of CoM. The XP is fantastic. Get a necro or cleric to duo with and your xp bar will fly.

You could also camp VP key spots.

Good money in those MQs, especially pained soul.

Thanks everyone for your responses! I really appreciate all of the insights from players more experienced than myself.

One question about Howling Stones - is the faction loss from killing Venril Sathir aligned monsters going to cause me problems as a Dark Elf enchanter?

HG's in Rathe, dwarf docks good until 49. Go to options when you are playing at work, quick and easy afk. Lower Guk, of course. especially if you haven't amassed your bag inventory yet.

I feel like i'm 1 or 5 people on the server that really enjoyed leveling in Frozen Tower. I always suggest it, cause it's a new experience. The zone has the feeling of multiple goals- You work on keys, you can gather a few piece of decent loot, and gain exp all at the same time.. Instead of just exp'n mindlessly and watching the bar, you're always hoping for a key to drop or a a named to pop, which keeps you somewhat engaged.. Plus it's always quiet, and eventually you can solo Tserrina, and get yourself a pretty robe :)

For sure. Luckily i've always loved that zone, so all my characters are geared with keys haha. First thing everybody should know when entering a new floor- Is know where the exit mirrors are haha.

Horrible enchanter here, never really learned the class but picked up a guild bot and leveled them from 46-51 at spectres in Feerrott, it was very efficient I was able to hold down ~3 spawns while being mana neutral just root rotting them (turns out you have better nukes/dots than a wizard at that level and clarity to boot!)
