Hello!

So every time I attempt to type my username into the login screen, it comes up as only numbers instead of letters as it should. I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem or if it was just internal to my computer/software? I'm running the program on Windows 7 platform and seem to have installed the software correctly, but I keep running into this issue (and I want to play!).

Thanks!

Please ensure you follow the getting started guide properly.

Step 4 - EQHost File
In order for your client to connect to the EQEmulator Login Server (and not SOE's EQLive Login Server), you will need to change your eqhost.txt file to point at the correct location. Go into your EverQuest directory and locate the eqhost.txt file. Replace the contents of the file with the following (Remove any trailing spaces):

Titanium or Secrets of Faydwer:
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5998

Seeds of Destruction/Underfoot:
[LoginServer]
Host=eqemulator.net:5999

Okay, so I've checked that and all seemed correct as well as updated the keyboard drivers on my computer. Is there anything else I can try, or is all hope lost?

So I want to make sure I am understanding this correctly. When you are typing in your login name and/or password, instead of letters appearing as you type them, they are showing up as numbers? Without revealing your login information can you provide a more specific example?

Also, some more system specs such as inyane specified. Additionally, your DirectX version, and Graphics card type.

It sounds like your computer/laptop is stuck in a mode where it interprets some parts of the keyboard as numbers. This typically only happens on laptops, however, you should check to see if there's a switch that forces your keyboard to behave as a laptop keyboard, or if it is a laptop keyboard look for the pseudo-number lock button.

Alternatively, open up notepad and see if you have the same issue. Also, try opening notepad while EQ is running and see if the issue persists then.

So the numlock thing seems likely since I'm running on a laptop and can find no other explanation for the problem. However, the notepad works fine while EQ is up, and I have no numlock key?

To clarify the overall issue, when I open up the project 1999 shortcut, anything typed into the username and password boxes appear as numerical characters, regardless of the intended alphabetical character entered. The numbers do not seem to correspond to a specific letter, as the character appearing changes with each entry I.e. If the letter "a" is entered, it could appear on screen as any of the numbers 0-9
