uh oh it says "Train from Zurich Drive by bus to nearby Zurich, and then board a high speed TGV train bound for Paris." hopefully we don't have to stay there too long I hope we see some snow that would be amazing...we have an optional tour to go up Mount Pilates but i doubt we'll do that

thats weird cause i see it all the time
Maybe it's just the germans who use it, and i never really realized they were referring to "Wochenende" (WE in german, see what i did there?) and not to "Weekend" :)

WE is probably not used by native english speakers much because, in speaking, the actual word is shorter than the two letters. In german, "W" is a one-syllable-letter ("Weh") and "Y" is the long one (Ypsilon).
It never occured to me either though, that english speakers don't use that. Maybe some do :)

for the very reason you described, I really doubt anyone would say "W-E" in english. the only way I could see it happening is if it becomes an internet shorthand first, then breaks its way into real speech - like people today saying "lol," or even going all the way to say "ell oh ell" (which pisses me the hell off).
