will the wiki be faster now?

Net neutrality is back as FCC votes to regulate internet providers (https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/25/tech/net-neutrality-is-back/index.html)

reassert its authority over an industry that powers the modern digital economy, touching everything from education to health care and enabling advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence.

I like it!

didn't net neutrality almost kill the internet last time through tragic level of server costs that were unsustainable and caused a massive sweeping influx of pornographic ads and invasive virii popups?

*thinking*

hardware is cheaper now?

it's not like these costs are slowing down any of the massive data centers these big tech companies utilize while at the same time shouting in our faces about the need for us all to "go green"

these places draw mega-watts of power and require huge carbon footprints in manufacturing all the gear that they use and constantly replace/upgrade

real talk, the grid can barely handle air conditioning forget about millions of EVs. The Corporatocracy just wants more resources for themselves and less rights/freedoms for the rest of us serfs.

Then there is the energy/mineral requirement for AI, lol fuhgedaboudit

Literally no green energy initiative is going to mean dick to global carbon emissions if china and india and the many developing nations don't get on board, which they won't and we shouldn't arrogantly expect them to.

You don't get to reap all the benefits of industrialization and then pull the ladder up behind you and say nobody else gets to use fossil fuels for cheap energy to industrialize and actually have a functioning economy. You must live in mud huts forever, poors, because jeff bezos feels woke when he says coal is bad on his most recent totally wasteful space fantasy camp.

They do say something, which is that every dumb captain planet thing enacted by soccer moms in the US does absolutely nothing if the world's largest polluters (china and india) don't get on board. And they can't\won't anytime soon.

There was a funny thing on adam corolla recently where he was talking about a fire under the 10 freeway in LA caused by a huge homeless encampment, and how the city council had recently enacted some dumb thing about how you have to use electric leaf blowers and shit to reduce c02 emissions which suck and aren't nearly as good as gas powered leaf blowers, and how if you do the math the homeless fire completely cancelled out the total net effect of the stupid leaf blower thing for like 4 years or something. Which was of course funny, because both things were caused by the same idiot soccer moms in government.

Yeah they give us a snapshot of atmospheric chemistry data for sure.

What they can't tell us is literally anything else like what was going on at the time. Core sampling doesnt account for major events like volcanic eruptions or massive algae blooms which can change atmospheric chemistry really fast.

To the modern climate scientist, absence of evidence is evidence of absence.

These people all operate under the impression that earth was the garden of eden until we started burning coal

Humans just havent learnt you just shouldnt shit in ones own nest. The earth is the nest.

No matter from which direction you come from it at.
1. God made it for me so im gonna use it.
Oil/gas and minerals/metals from the ground use/abuse. God would not offer me something that will harm me.

OR

2. I'm my own man and Ive learnt things, sciency things so now, what I can take is mine. (hehe) My science will guide me as to how to use it.
Gee mining is expensive...
Enter non sciency money bags who sees only dollars in = a set amount out. This sum put out must grow. Must.
Enter the creative accounting/engineering/production department of ZeroResponsibility.

If by "Garden Of Eden" you mean an unspoilt perfect wonderland leaving a simple man and woman wanting for nothing then I agree.

So I suppose the driven improver types are the "devil" in this scenario hey?

As soon as the apple (the extraction of polluting raw materials) was plucked, all of humanity (except the armish now i think of it) are doomed to the sin of making use of the apple.

Fucking Apple.

well i mean coal = EQ so...

and it's not like 'they' were gonna let us keep using the ley lines and pyramids for energy, we blew up Atlantis and now it's the hollow moon

Anu was like WTF dudes when he came back after we cracked the earth like an egg and reorg'd the continents, so they had to go hide miles under the ice in antarctica and wait until we calm the F down.

turns out unlimited free energy grants the ability to mold space-time to your personal desires and that's really just too much power for us upright chimps to have at our disposal.

reality has never been the same since then you can see the rifts around you all the time like that girl at the end of Moonraker definitely had braces.

CERN isn't breaking space-time, they are trying to figure out how to fix it.

now you don't know what to believe haha

earth has only been "nice" for the last few odd millennia that facilitated the evolution of humans to the point where we could further exploit resources.

before that it was a frozen wasteland

before that there was barely any oxygen

before that it was so hot that rock was liquid

current conditions conducive to life as we know it, are the exception, not the rule

there is a certain naivete and audacity to think that our impact is unnatural, or that we could even do anything about it.

the massive algae blooms that created all the oxygen were really bad for most plant life that evolved in an atmosphere with much higher c02

climate alarmists should redirect their ire at the forces who suppress zero point energy technology

Heh I totally forgot CERN was a thing, I was so hyped about it a few years ago. They invent time travel or whatever yet?

uhh nope not exactly

after spending ~5 billion they found the fabled higgs boson but it pretty much answered zero questions

cuz it turns out their 27km largest-machine-ever-built isn't big enough so now they want 30 billion to build one that is 5-10x the size of the LHC and the world is like lulz no maybe china will built it

CERN doesn't wanna admit they spent 5 billion in nerd dollars on practically nothing, europe could have had like 7 B2 Stealth Bombers or a colony on the moon

That sounds about right.

The higgs thing was pretty anticlimactic anyway cause they expected to find it, and did, which is like the least interesting scientific result possible. Only cost a measly 5 billion dollars lol

Every time CERN does an experiment, the bathroom has weird shit here going on when I'm trying to shit.

I'm thinking of filing a formal complaint.
