Getting out of paineel?

Hey all, new to P1999. last time i played EQ, i was probably 10 years old haha. I made an erudite necro and cannot for the life of me figure out how to leave the dang city. Google told me to say Keyz at the guard near the elevator, after hailing him, but when i do so, nothing happens. i have said keyz multiple times at different distances away from him and still nothing. I feel like an idiot saying keyz over and over in the chat, not sure if others can see it. I must be missing something. Could someone explain the process to me like I have 4 braincells?

You will also need to be targeting one of the guards at the elevator when you say “I need keyz.”

Yep that was it. thanks for the help everyone. I feel dumb haha. Managed to get out of the city and immediately get ganked by 3 rats. Good times...
