View Full Version : Good DKP Value Items for Warriors

Hi all,
Was curious if some fellow raiding warriors could lend some advice. I’ve stockpiled quite a bit of dkp and am looking to spend it on my wood elf warrior. Generally, I take the route of “save for best in slot so I only have to spend dkp once”, but it’s not so easy to do this with a warrior given how gear dependent they are to be effective. Can I please get some ideas on what I should be spending my dkp on? A couple notes:
- Right now, number one priority is green scale. I canÂ’t imagine anyone would tell me different, but wanted to clarify that I donÂ’t have epic and itÂ’s number one on the list.
- I know that Vulak and doze loot would be BiS for a lot of stuff. What I’m looking for is more along the lines of “get a vindi bp, not AoW bp” or “spend your money on Fesh arms instead of trying to camp SWC”
Any advice you could share is greatly appreciated

got a good 2hander? frostreaver basically free and i see twisted steel bastard swords go dirt cheap in tov often. not sure about gear outside that really, warrs pretty dkp intense. i think best bet would be to search wiki slot by slot for gear by ac/hp/resists and cross-reference with guild bid history if you have one. you can get lucky sometimes if nobody else is prioritizing gearing their warrior and you go for 2nd-3rd bis stuff

Hammered golden loops from Chardok farmers (plat buy).
Ring ten if your guild does it or at least get up to 9 (roll for 8 til you win) its decent on its own then you're ready to go for a ring ten next. Djarn's ring.
Bile Etched Obsidian Choker if your guild does CT.
Circlet of Suffering from Telk.
Vindi BP.
Skyshrine arms aren't bad if you don't expect to get Fesh arms. SWC if you are rich or have time to join Urn network, but you might want that on wrists...for wrists the good old scout bracers are ok, Crystal Chitin is ok, Eashen bracer is decent. (Avoids expensive/difficult Doze wrists).
Heiro, CoF (probably your best bet if you need a haste item until you can get a 41% one), Iksar Cape, CT cloak of the fearsome.
Strength of the Elements, much easier than Doze shoulders.
Skyshrine gloves are actually quite nice.
Vindi boots.
Willsapper.
Eye of Narandi for range.
Legs are a tough one, not knowing what guild you're in for Dagarn/Koi chances, probably just go for those if you ever have a chance no matter your budget. Belt also tough, the 41% belt on Dagarn is nice to go for if its a possibility for you.

Depends on your guild ofcourse.
If you do VP the vp agro weapons are great until you can get a scale/willsapper/trident
Really just depends on your access to stuff. If your guild does alot of CT the cloak of the fearsome is great.

In case anyone is browsing old threads in addition to this one - Feverblade Bane of the Shissar is no longer an aggro weapon.

Yeah that one and sword of the shissar are now junk.
Veridix and veldraks,skull crusher of kragg and maelstrom all still good ones.
Here it the route I went:
Greenscale
Yeli head (Gloves)
Vindi Boots
Cloak of fearsom (CT)
War Bow of RZ (Avatar)
Tunare Belt
My next target is CT neck (Bile Etched).
With consistant raiding i was able to get all the above in about a year. Definitly overspent on greenscale but it was 100% worth it and no one can tell me otherwise.
Items i spent time and money on during the above progress:
2x HGLs
Eyepatch of Plunder
Chokidai Hide Pauldrons
Helm of RZ (Could also DKP this but its rare-ish)

so basically the 2nd/3rd/4th best item for each slot that doesn't have much competition from other classes
ring and mask from eashen
ltk mask, and gloves if cheap
other gloves choices: if u want save dkp, then just stick with ss gloves and silver steel gaunts are solid enough, or drop more dkp on onyx gloves/yeli gloves
vindi bp & boots
cloak of fearsome
veldrak's shortblade/veridix's Shortsword are dirt cheap but super nice aggro to pair with red epic
any 2h primal for proc when dps role
telk head
belt of destroyer if cheap (if vulak feeliux belt doesn't cost much more then get that instead)
hands of the master
str of elements
dps 1h: whip of rage or kreiz flame if cheap
dps 2h: any tov drops, but i prefer the vyemm one
2h aggro: if u have epic dont bother with dain axe
legs not much choice: ss legs, koi legs, dagarn legs, but there's also ikatiar legs (which has a black leather look looks nice on certain races)
wrist not much choice either: bracelet of sky, next level up (100hp) will cost quite some dkp
neck not much cheap choices: the 100hp ones are all gonna be quite costly, even aary's neck gonna be competitive

Damn. Is this what EQ becomes?
Surely, 'twas ever thus on p99?
Since I started playing in Kunark on Blue lifetaps have been nerfed on account of Lynuga Ruby quest abuse (lifetap loops) ... later on the same theme we had mallet spam for aggro...
P99 seems to have always been a cycle of finding consumable clickies to spam and getting them / the effects nerfed.

Hobart's Helmet from Vulak should be cheaper than Rallos Zek Helmet. You only lose 30 HP and 5 AC if you are STA capped already. You also get 8 MR/CR/FR, which is a good enough trade for losing 7 MR from Rallos Zek Helmet.

Let me know what everyone thinks.

This list is not exhaustive. This list is NOT BIS (although some items might be). It is meant as a general guide for things that MIGHT be a good DKP value (GOOD items that are warrior only may go cheap depending on who is there), or be purchasable with plat (assuming you got some plat to dump as warriors are costy). Generally the items are listed from most ideal to less ideal within the same category. Obviously Vulak and Doze loot is better than what I listed here, but you said for value, so that is taken into consideration.
* Neck: Ayillish's Talisman
* Head: Circlet of Suffering / Circlet of the Falinkan
* Ears1: Hammered Golden Loop
* Ears2: Hammered Golden Loop
* Face: Mask of the Sky / Mask of Superiority / Eyepatch of Plunder
* Chest: Chestplate of Vindication
* Arms: Spirit Wracked Cord / Vambraces of the Myrmidon
* Back: Heirophant Cloak / Iksar Hide Cape / Cloak of Flames
* Waist: Spiked Seahorse Hide Belt / Belt of the Four Winds
* Shoulders: Strength of the Elements / Chokidai Hide Pauldrons
* Wrists1: Bracer of Benevolence / Silver Chitin Wristband
* Wrists2: Bracer of Benevolence / Silver Chitin Wristband
* Legs: Greaves of the Myrmidon
* Hands: Gauntlets of the Myrmidon / Silver Steel Gauntlets
* Fingers1: Ring of Dain Frostreaver IV / Coldain Hero's Insignia Ring
* Fingers2: Ring of the Sky / Regal Band of Bathezid / Di'Zok Signet of Service / Djarns Amethyst Ring
* Feet: Boots of the Vindicator / Boots of the Myrmidon
* Primary Agro: Willsapper / Veldrak's Shortblade / Veridix's Shortsword / Maelstrom
* Secondary Agro: Blade of Strategy / Veldrak's Shortblade / Veridix's Shortsword / Maelstrom
* 2H Agro: Frostreaver
* 2H DPS: Gaudralek, Sword of the Sky / Twisted Steel Bastard Sword / Ancient Fire Etched Flamberge / Reaver
* 2H Ramp: Sword of Rile
* Range: Sandwich of Foul Smelling Herbs
If you are a woodelf you need to ensure that you have 205 stamina unbuffed with your agro weapons. Ideally, every item you are wearing when you are tanking has +HP as well (preferably the max available on that slot). You always want to ensure you have at least 34% haste (41% ideally).... generally that means making sure you pick a belt and cloak that match.
Another thing to consider is where you plan on taking this character and what you plan on doing with it. If one day you want to make it VERY HIGH END, then dont waste DKP on stuff like a Dagarn belt (potentially costly for a non 100HP item on a 100 HP slot), when you know you gonna want a Dain or Tunare belt eventually. In that case, focus on resellable plat items temporarily (seahorse belt), or slots that go cheap (sky 41 haste belt). If you eventually want a specific item, plan on it now, and work around that for your temporary slots.
Also, this doesnt include the absolute shit ton on NON worn item clickies you gonna want. Invis BP/Legs, Lev Cloak, Jboots, SoW Sword, etc, etc, etc. I included items like 2H DPS weapons so you can have an idea of what might be worth picking up CHEAP. DONT WASTE DKP ON DPS ITEMS IF YOU ARE A WARRIOR, YOU ARE A TANK... IF YOU WANNA DPS MAKE A ROGUE. Yes warriors can be solid DPS, but its not your primary objective and blowing DKP on DPS items when you are a sub 6k tank is just wasteful. And Frostreaver is a good "bang for your buck" weapon, but real talk, you want 2 x 1H agro weapons for tanking.
GOOD LUCK at this expensive endeavor!

This is helpful, thank you. A couple questions on slots:
My current back slot is a cloak of the maelstrom. Stats are good and it was cheap, but I’m a small race so the weight kills me. Is it worth swapping to iksar hide?
Shoulder slot seems like such a huge pain in the butt. Strength of elements would be great but kozz is very very hard to nab on green. Second option you listed was chokidai hide which dings me on strength and again, as a small race it’s a hindrance? Any other options for that slot? SWC is in process and I could put that on shoulders I guess but who knows how long that could take.

STR does not increase aggro. STR increase your ATK which increases your avg damage. Aggro is based on potential damage and does not increase with ATK.

I get that. As a totally untwinked warrior, my strength is 135ish maybe? I haven’t had trouble holding aggro in groups with wess and frosty, but at some point that str number being so low will be an issue

I feel like you’re answering a question I didn’t ask? I’m currently holding aggro fine with a wess and frosty. My haste item is a seahorse belt, so it’s not the best droppable haste but pretty good. The question is about sacrificing all other stats on a non twinked warrior for the sake of hit points. I’m specifically curious/concerned about my STR as a small race because it’s not good to begin with. Hope that provided clarity on the what I’m curious about.

Do you use Cobalt boots? Clicky strength buff is amazing.
Don't swap the maelstrom cloak out until your over the 205sta point. Then iksar/hiero are good upgrades.
As long as your strong enough to hold your gear your fine, your already high enough to be capped with raid buffs.
Couple tink bags help holding the heavy junk

Stacking anything but DPS, AC and MR (in that order) when you’re leveling is stupid. Hitpoints are for 60, non farm content.

for leveling strength can be valuable for maximizing DPS, but once you are 60 and raiding it is extremely trivial to hit cap with buffs so its not really a consideration regardless of race; you will hit cap at 187 with fos, 120 with fos+str, 100 with fos+str+pe. SWC is great on any slot you can put it on, its just massively better than the next best arm slot (which is much less true of shoulder/wrist).... but unless you have those high end items its a moot point and works find on your shoulder anyways.

SWC is awesome, but I don’t know why people keep recommending it. The thing might be the sweatiest quest in the game. You have to roll against like 30 people in a 10 hour window or whatever for AG, Sinew is a rare drop from both juggs and Trak, and urn is perma camped by like 1-2 guilds. Vulak loot seems more realistic.

You can buy ring 2 and the urn. If you buy ring 2 you can also buy the sinew mq
Ring 2 pass through also available, you get the ring and mq it to the next person. Still very expensive,urns are going for 230 on green right now. I paid 100k for the ring mq

It only matters in the context of encumbrance. Are you having trouble carrying shit? If so, strength will help with that. If not, strength really just doesn't matter to a warrior. I mean, in principle, it increases your DPS and that would technically equate to a higher XP/hour in a group setting; but it's like taking the floor mats out of your car to get a better gas mileage.
Strength has no impact whatsoever on aggro generation. When you swing a weapon, you generate an amount of aggro equal to that weapon's damage attribute plus your inherent level-based damage bonus. It doesn't matter how much you actually hit for. It doesn't matter if you miss, hit for 1, hit for max damage, or crit (though crippling blows have a stun component that generates extra aggro; but again, unaffected by strength). For that reason, strength on a warrior is not relevant unless you have so little of it that you're having trouble carrying your shit. It never affects your ability to be an effective tank.
If you often duo with a healer and you're the one providing most of the damage, high strength is kind of nice. In real groups, and especially in raids, it doesn't make any difference that anybody would ever notice. Mostly it determines how much vendor trash you can pick up, and if your low strength represents an opportunity cost in lost revenue that causes you to miss out on upgrades, I suppose that can be considered a disadvantage in an extremely roundabout way. I would say this mostly stops being relevant once you get past the point where fine steel weapons make up a noteworthy portion of your income. By level 40ish, all the cash drops are weightless things like gems, spells and faction turn-in crap.
