THOUGHTS FROM THE DEVELOPER / DEV TEAM

Got the box up, don't know if people can join I need to mess with network shit.

I have Heidi SQL going with PEQ database and figured out how to adjust shit. PVP Teams, TZ/VZ style, Kunark. Working on settings also. PVP will be +/- 8 starting at lvl 2.

SQL seems easy, but I'm not sure about how the PVP will feel I downloaded TAKP database? Maybe need to learn this BULLSHIT and get the proper databse.

Thanks for staying up to date on Keeping the Dream Alive project, I will keep you all posted on thoughts that pop into my head and progress.

Fast EXP, like old VZTZ or at least the one I played like a good week tops to get to 60 of decently hard grinding. Boosted drops/EXP, Planar gear droppable maybe?

Casual and easier to get a group geared and levelled to contest other. No one wants to camp a fucking SMR for 3 weeks ENGELBURT. Or do a full POH run to get like 5 pieces of gear. Gear up an army and fight.

Exp works good, Teams mechanics looks OK, mobs look good loot itemization seems ok. Expansion set to Kunark.

Just need to make sure resists are OK (no snare/root landing on 80+ mr) what else really matters maybe turn down spell dmg? or balance it a bit?

What else is there? I need to up drop rate somehow. Fix some network shit and this is good to drop on the public.

Would a new, private server with questionable trust in admin control, benefit from a large audit log of everything going on in the server related around items, and xp, levels and money? Something like Venmo for an EQ private server.

The problem with Red is actually live Velious is horrendous. You need like 30 people for dps, cleric ch chains main tanks dps etc. On top of that you need to clear dispelling trash and really need to sacrifice your life to do it. You have to be special to do this.

That alone makes red not viable for normal people.

My server will be more FP vs Qeynos or like whatever Image box. Teams, I went 8x EXP. Drops are all normal I dont know how to alter that stuff I'm just getting zonelines to work, drops/mobs all look good.

It will most likely be 0 pop, but casual PVP is what I'm after something someone can log in and pvp in probably 8 hours? plus boxing so you have some buffs/ports. Red99 I'm in TOV I log on its empty. I go WW its empty, I go SG its empty, I go CS its empty. I log in Stasis in Sebilis its empty. I play dota.

Also Velious HP/AC/Resists almost everyone can get to a zone and plug, its just long fights boring annoying gay.

I have a few ideas that melee feels weak so ill just turn magic dmg to match the level of melee dmg, and melee seems low so thats good. Don't need to figure out some melee code.

I will just basically disable roots/cc/snare any type of magic CC because back on live it never landed on 80+. Instead of stressinga bout resist codes and bullshit ill just make those spells useless.

Made RUned bone fork 100% drop rate, jboots are 100% on drelzna, like no tedious horse shit. I'll make bloodstained mantle 100% probably. Up the Split paw mask. crushbone tunic etc. More PVP focused and just fun with a bit of the nostalgia grind shit. but basically DOTA or MOBA type style.

Manastone will be super rare, guise rare, planar armor will be somewhat common so people can gear up new people and fight.

Mith 2hnder maybe up the chance to 50/50 etc. Higher chance on FBSS/Yak.

Light hearted fun EQ EMU not grind quest.

People could be bored and not want to play and it just ends up empty, but I don't think making the grind endless is the answer to this. Give me pvpers for fun, or give me nothing.

There is about 6 months worth of stuff to fix and finding it all would require a player base to help test. Getting a player base would require a following or proven track record as a dev. Good luck.

Ok ok apparently the PVP settings are shit and not developed. And when I try to find information surprise surprise Image and Secrets being cocky faggots and not being useful at all.

So I am using RZ FFA PVP which works, enabled at level 2. No Level range but PVE is easy just avoid unwinnable fights.

Wanted to see the state of EQPVP on other boxes. ROT has been down for 6 days? It has an average of 40 players(boxed?). So I try A EQPVP server. Seems OK download the patcher load it.

Load in my two toons. Kill 9 level 1 mobs, not even level 2. Log out. 10 people online at the time I tried.

Back to figuring out resists etc those boxes are total garbo.

OK in the spell file if you put Minresist to 100 it doesn't land in PVP for snares and shit. So I can adjust all the spells now.

The PVPresistcap, PVPresistbase, PVPresist all don't work in the code it's just databse shit.

Now I just need to figure out how to make TZ Teams PVP work.

WorldPVPSettings don't work whatsoever, real real real unfortunate. I googled like 100 different ways asking. There was rumor you could enable each zone for PVP in the zone table(I would have) but that isn't true. I cannot find a setting in the DB.

So the only way I can make it work is PVP enabled at level 2. Which is basically everyone hands their book in at lvl 2. I tested you can still heal/buff etc. It doesnt block you off from other pc's and enables PVP, but it's FFA no level range.

I am sorry to announce my box will be FFA. I think the population of 0 won't mind but I felt important to inform the forums.

Also, Image, instead of fixing this or any of the PVP guys, the few only pvp settings are all broken in the Database. And when one other guy asked my question he's like durr now you see it's hard ot make a pvp box.

All of the PVP devs are faggots, this is the only conclusion. Thx for reading.

Also really really good news resists are adjusted and work good.

Snare/Ensnare/Clinging/Engulfing/Dooming/Bondsofforce/Roots etc will not be landing in PVP.

They won't work in PVE either, which will feel really junky, but the PVE is pretty inconsequential and easymode so I'm hoping it doesn't ruin it. The PVPspells options do not function in the database, thx pvp devs great work over the past decade.

After all the current updates, I have the most fun box on the market right now.

PVP works, the spells that shouldn't land won't. The Exp rate, Zone drops, etc are perfection.

Tested PVP. Mage pets hitting for 29 in PVP, decent hit rate but not crazy dmg really balanced. Lava bolt hits 580?

Warrior with an Exe axe is hitting 72 at 50 in PVP. I think it's fairly low and balanced which is very lucky.

OK just said fuck it and made CT custom. The mobs aren't in the DB that I need.

I made Gorillas/Templars in the Temple that have all the Ravenscale loot at a decent rate. They drop in Feerrot on the DB NPC's. CT 1.5 or 2.0 or whatever.

I made the Pyramid/Ziggurat? have a bunch of Crusaders spawn all up static they're 100% drop rate still need to do the quest but if anyone feels inclined to wear Darkforge we have it.

If you want a real classic CT dungeon crawl experience this is not the box for you.

OK Made a little Paw encounter its like 2inches/cwalls dick inside the Zone but it's kinda live like without the roamer.

Has the one cleric with him, some adds outside around him but basically right inside the first hall Ishval Mal spawn. Can't think of anything else of value in Paw.

No Soulfire, No steel golem in CT. Good enough for me.

Rathe mts is gay frog zone rathe mts. It looks classic but they moved stuff and changed stuff. So I don't know.

I spawned a static hasten the quest works. It's `100% drop off drelzna but I might make that like 25% or I don't know seems a little too easy.

Unless something broken drops in rathe mts i'm not touching it and don't really know how to change it to a more classic zone.

I think I am almost at the point of rebranding. I need a name and an official release #2.

I'm thinking Garage Box, because that's what I'm aiming for. The days of fun EMU PVP.

I might make a new thread with a recap of all my changes and the situation and officially rebrand.
