View Full Version : NPC Spawn Issue: Sky Spirocs

I spoke to 2 guides/gms regarding this and it appears to be a known issue on Green Server.
Killing out of "designated" order on the Spiroc island results in instant repops. However, it appears the smallest spirocs (a spiroc arbiter, a spiroc banisher, a spiroc caller, a spiroc expulser, a spiroc revolter, a spiroc walker), when killed out of order, both instant repop AND repop 8 hours later resulting in 2x spawns. This has been reproduced (multiple times) with arbiter and banisher, and is currently duplicate on Red server right now (again).

Unfortunately this causes issue for intermittent farming resulting in requests to reset the island to guides/GMs as with potentially 2x the number of Spirocs (every 8 hours if one has been killed?), otherwise making it is incredibly hard to manage the event.

How exactly should this work? Could use good guides/research to make sure it's changed properly.

It is a valid question if this "should" work this way.
The Spiroc Lord for example does NOT have this problem. If you kill all but the guardian, the lord does not duplicate. So it somewhat stands to reason that nothing should duplicate.
Also if anything does duplicate a wipe/partial clear results in a 2x harder encounter potentially.
This is all I saw on Alla's looking at relevant mobs and item comments within the timeline.
"They are the key to taking this Island. Kill them first becasue if you dont they will respawn the other in his group that you just killed. There are 3 groups. The vanquisher is the key to each. Good luck."

I have the duplication issue fixed, pending update.
Last remaining question is, should there ever be a time where one of the pair(s) should ever be spawned, when the associated vanquisher is not.
For example, if one vanquisher is linked to caller, and walker. Is there ever a case where a caller, or walker should be spawned, while the vanquisher is down waiting on a respawn timer?

I have never seen the repop process. It sort of feels like the spawns of the children should be linked to the spawn of the master - when the Vanquisher repops his 2 associated should repop with him..
But again this is based on sense, not data.

I have been learning this zone on EQ live and comparing it to P99. So to test this, I will kill all 3 vanquishers but not their linked mobs and then jump off the island. I'll come back after repops and report if multiples respawn.
Also, I'd have to research if this was patched (perhaps to prevent some exploiting), but Sirran spawns in a fixed location after killing mobs now. On P99 seem to recall he spawns out of the corpse?

Sirran spawns out of boss corpse at that location.
There is already a non-classic change here to prevent ease/exploit to this end - mobs cannot be pulled island to island anymore. So we’ve already left “normalcy” to some extent. Who knows what happens on live.
To duplicate this you kill the arbiter and banisher only (triggering instant repopulation) then wait for the natural 8 hour repopulation thus resulting in double. Don’t kill the vanquishers (that’s what your “supposed” to do to progress)
Probably the easiest fix is the 8 hour only pops if his associated instant isn’t up.

Are those the only 2 names? Thought live had like 4 or 5 different names that could pop
I'm doubtful any "double pops" will occur on live but I'll try
Other weird stuff happens on live... azaracks fly all over the place, seen them roaming pegasus island even. Has very weird pathing

Each Vanquisher has 2 sub named. See revision from original post
(these 2 are a pair)
a spiroc arbiter,
a spiroc banisher,
(not sure which pairs here)
a spiroc caller,
a spiroc expulser,
a spiroc revolter,
a spiroc walker),
When [the vanquisher is not killed first], the [arbiter/banisher] instant re-pop spawns; then [the 8 hour] repop also respawns if the full event was not completed - this is repeatable an infinite number of times [every 8 hours]. We got up to like 6x Arbiter before it got annoying.
Interestingly the "instant" repop of the arbiter does not path, but the "8 hour" does path

While I didn't find this worthwhile testing, I should note I found a source here:

It states multiple times that any splits / trigger spawns have an 80-minute despawn timer.
So I am assuming that it would be impossible to have 'multiple repops' of the vanquisher guards up due to this mechanic.
Note that you wouldn't expect the vanquisher guards to simply despawn after 80 minutes of waiting. Classic EQ a lot of static mobs simply despawned and instantly respawned if left up too long.
