I read a little about SSF and it sounded intriguing. One question I have is are you supposed to turn in your priest book to go pvp? Or can you exp with others who are doing the same thing? I understand there are probably various rules but I’m curious what others who are doing SSF are doing? This SSF is all new to me and I took a decently long break from p99 so I apologize if these questions have been answered in various posts. Thanks.

You pretty much make your own rules doing SSF. I never turned in the book doing SSF. You will also realize it sucks trying to play something like a warrior, rogue, etc as SSF. SSF is doable playing a caster, druid or shaman, even a monk maybe.

As Skorge says, I am not sure if anyone has posted an official ruleset that people follow.
If my understanding is correct, Solo Self Found (SSF) has the following "rules":
1. Can't give any items or money to the SSF character.
2. All items and money being used by the SSF character must have been acquired by the SSF character.
3. The SSF character cannot use items or money to trade for other items in EC.
It is basically Auld Lang Syne rules, but without the internal guild market.
In terms of whether an SSF character can group or not, I think that is up to you. People who really want a challenge will SSF a Warrior to 60 without grouping.

The reason to turn in the book is so that people can't randomly buff/heal you. Like everything else about these self-imposed restrictions, it's optional.

Probably the only limiter of ALS for me was this. You had people in the guild who were rich off the backs of other newer guild members.
