Saturday, June 17th - Everquest Hardcore Challenge League season 1 begins!

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you're enjoying your summer. Next week, Saturday the 17th the Everquest Hardcore Challenge League season 1 begins.

This season will take place on Project 1999: RED

Deciding to play on a PvP server may be a shock to some of you, but considerable amounts of thought and discussion went into this decision. Let me remind everyone, you will never lose your character to a PvP death of any kind. You can continue playing as if nothing happened if you die to a PvP scenario.

If you've never tried Red, remember: There is a large XP bonus (details attached in spoiler), and anything you want to farm is probably uncamped. Don't be afraid to give it a try.


Update: Senior guide has declared that we can not offer real life cash prizes, instead we must use in-game prizes or currency, so please stand by while we evaluate our prize situation. I'm sorry to anyone who was excited about the offer of a cash prize.

Create a character on P99: RED on June, 17th starting at 1400 EST (2pm) or later. Check your timezones. You can create, or recreate as many hardcore characters as you like after this point. Keep in mind, P99 anti-boxing rules still apply.

You will join the guild <No Rez Necessary>

Play the game without dying. See the hardcore specific rules in the "hardcore-rules" section of the league's discord.

I look forward to seeing each of you in game on the 17th. Remember; the point of this is fun. Most of us will die. It's inevitable.

Im going to give this a go.. may be fun to bring new life to red anyways. Blue wouls be equally a good option but with the exp bonus red makes a lot of sense if the guild stays active

Red, Blue, Green. They are all the same server, with the same code. Red just has way more options than the other 2, which makes it superior! Just think it through for literally 30 seconds. Red has OPEN camps, open dungeons, exponential exp bonus up to 290% in a full group. Hardcores can only group with hardcores, hardcores can only trade with other hardcores. That fact alone completely negates the "low population" argument, making it irrelevant. Low population also means less bored high levels wandering around throwing unwanted buffs on these hardcores. It also means a server economy which is more low key - which is good because it will be less tempting for people to cheat! Once (if?):D hardcores reach raid level, they will have OPEN raids as well. No lines, no rotations, no FTE races. All this with the added bonus of occasional fun PVP, which they are not penalized for should they die to PVP.

Maybe they will do Blue for season 2? But Red will always be the better choice!

Fortunately, we excluded PK deaths from our hardcore rules, and most of us are streaming or recording our sessions, so your efforts will be kept for perpuity or submitted as evidence to GMs as evidence! Thank you and keep it up!

(I hope everyone appreciate the sarcasm in this message. Sarcasm is also a very Red thing to do. And, in case anyone wonders, we chose Red mostly because it was so empty, and the playing base is so top heavy, we'd have the lower level zones mostly to ourselves.)

Seriously you guys need to realize there’s like 100 toons that exist still full twinked who kill people just to inconvenience them and were rock hard cocks when they were able to take exp by pvp killing someone.

It was right that your PVE experiment encountered some PvP action and hopefully your players are ready to deal with it or rather again shine light on how shitty no item loot pvp is at low levels since you guys have no reason to try to defeat any of these twinks since they’ll just come back and grief you again even if you do manage to kill one.

You don’t lose exp when you die, so fuck the em. Who cares about the twinks? The kind of person who is accepting this challenge is the same type of person who is going to physically delete their toon after a PvE death and potentially start over again. If this same type of person crumples from a bit of PvP, I would be very surprised.
