I started playing a few days ago. I finally got to EC. I won't lie I found out myself most people are pretty antisocial. My entire tenure, I could not get a single person to respond at the tunnel for anything including a buff. Nore did anybody even help as I was dying in front of them multiple times. They just all literally stood there. I shrugged it off the first few times but it's been business as usual...day after day.

It's not the same as I remember it. peoples aint as friendly as then. I mean , it's been quite brutal wake up call. AFter spending a week there, I dont think I'll come back to this game.

People are super nice or socially detached. Most of us are old and most people in the tunnel afk. It’s a game you can “play” without much effort.

You gotta do you though. Quitting now will save you hundreds if not thousands of hours.

I'm playing on blue, admittedly haven't spent much time around the tunnel on low levels begging for buffs but what you're describing hasn't been my experience. I would stand near entrance and ask in /say and if that's not successful find a druid or whatever and send them a polite message. And realistically nobody's going to sit and watch a low level get smacked around if they can help it. EC is the last place where you should expect people to be alert at their keyboards.

If you expected it to be the same as '99, it's not, but it's not a hostile place either. Ask any Dial a Port or Castle, etc. player you see for buffs for a newbie and see what happens. And consider joining a social guild before you quit the game and find something productive to do with your time.

Your only interaction with the community is begging and then getting mad when afk people act afk, and then running to the forum to call them anti-social?

Lets get something straight. Your comment was disrespectful. SO cut it out. No , asking for a buff isn't ''begging''. You can shove that you know where. Btw im not a your psych. if you got anger issues you should go consult him/her.

Tunnel is like the AFK spot. Talk to people not in the tunnel :p

It can definitely be frustrating to die in front of a dozen people but as others have mentioned, most or all of them are probably afk or 90% afk. I've found /shouting that I'm bringing an air elemental to tunnel and could use a hand as I flee from certain doom can be helpful, as well as /saying that you need a hand once you get there.

I don't want to bug people with it every 20 seconds but typically someone will run out and help.

As others have mentioned, it's a pretty friendly community outside of the raid scene and highly sought after camps

I find it much easier to get buffs is just go next to that person and whisper him/her. If no reply that person most likely afk.

I haven't played in a while now, but from lurking the forums I have heard EC trade chat is mostly in Discord now, so EC has become a bit more AFK. Also, I think Green is more populated for the 1-60 game. Someone more online will have to confirm.

There are plenty of folks out there who are more than willing to help out new players. One of my favorite things is to help out new folks with gear and camaraderie. Are you on blue or green?

I can't real comment on Blue, but as a casual on Green, my interactions with other players has been overwhelmingly positive. The few times I've needed help and actually asked for it, people have bent over backwards to assist.

As mentioned by others in this thread, EC is like 80% afk, and outside of the orc camps, is anybody even xping there? You may be better served taking a trip to Crushbone or the Warrens.

i literally get buffed and healed without even asking when i'm chillin in the tunnel medding/healing on alts. just ask once, be friendly, and don't feel slighted if nobody can be bothered. you have to understand that not only are people generally at least partially afk, some of them can't even / can hardly move from their spot because they're holding so much plat, and if they so much as stub their toe walking down the tunnel ramp they take insta-death fall damage.

EC xping is a pretty short phase anyway

I had a guildmate that was AFK in the tunnel for a good 2 weeks easy. Not sure how he managed not to go LD or anything but yea, lots of AFKs in the tunnel

Every game has its own player base, and sometimes it's just a matter of finding the right group of people to play with. Look for online communities, forums, or social media groups dedicated to the game you're playing. Joining a group or guild can provide a more positive and supportive environment.

I started on Monday on blue, and honestly I am having the exact opposite experience. I have met so many nice people. I found 2-3 people I have exp'd with regularly already, a few nice people gave me a few newbie items, one guy gave me 50pp for my spells (I'm a cleric). I am level 13 and killing stuff in unrest currently. It has been amazing! I am sorry you aren't having the best experience :(.

Wasn't there a guild on Blue99 awhile named <Socially Detached>?

@OP or anyone else having a hard time connecting with other playera on Green/Blue:

Most people are courteous or friendly, esp if greeted friendly or in a neutral way in /say or /tell etc, even many times as well if you make an earnest and friendly request in a zone-wide channel like /ooc or /shout...

The real kicker here though is the biggest thing that will influence how much player interaction/reply you get on P99 is the TIME of day IRL that you are playing at.

You may sinply be playing at the most dead/unpopulated time of day for P99 most of the time? And I believe there are very often times when its the middle of the night in North America/USA that half or more of the "Online" players are actually fast asleep/AFK.

How one responds to classic EQ\p99 is a great insight into how they respond to actual real life. Most of the time it sucks and it's tiring and tedious. But the highs are high and the lows are low, which I definitely prefer to being hooked up to some kind of nutrient machine that keeps me technically alive but ultimately indifferent for my entire existence (modern mmos)

No. You are the one who needs therapy. Did you take your meds today? You don't like dialogue that's a YOU problem. You're projecting your own mental case on me. Tough guy. Anger issues you need psych for. You got the wrong one .

Oof idk man. I do feel where you're coming from. The longer Green has been around, and the higher the population, the worse people's overall behaviour has got. That's my experience honestly.

The number of people calling themselves "Smokin Nugz" or "Bigballz McBoogerbuttz" or other dumbass names pisses me off too. I actually petition them and I think P99 does do something about it, it's really jarring to see stuff like that in the game.

One dude was slowly kiting mobs directly through my camp, he was miles away, so far he wasn't even in view, I tag the mob and he starts screaming how I'm a fatass / I should stfu etc. Just one of many examples of "WTF" behaviour in this game. Another dude, a lil gnome enc, harassed the whole party every step of the way down to Judges in Splitpaw. I got tired of him giving everyone - and me - such a hard time, he freaks out again and it destroys the group, everyone porting out and leaving the ogre down there... fortunately I'm an SK and just invis'd all the way to the entrance, point being, people are *spiteful* in this game sometimes. Like holy shit.

Then there's the other 90% of interactions that are totally fine. Idk it's weird. There are a lot of people who need to be medicated playing this game.

I've been here off and on since 2010 and never has issues with players I've ran into, to be fair I've never met gigatrolls named "Smokeweedz Err'Day" or "Da Swampdonkey" so maybe I have confirmation bias?

Easiest solution, if you're here for the game and not the players, is to solo, just as the Lord intended. Can't have a bad experience with certain players if you never group ;), yes it's an MMO, but the fact that certain classes are super strong solo means the devs wanted people to have options and play however they wanted.

I receive buffs normally and never even ask for them at the tunnel. I also died in front of a bunch of people the other day at the tunnel even though I shouted that I was running the the tunnel and needed help.

But I didn't get mad, I didn't whine or get frustrated- I looted my corpse and moved on with life. It is not a reflection of the community here if you died and no one helped you or if you asked for buffs and no one buffed you.

This is classic Everquest:

YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN

The thing that makes this game and community great is other players help you because they WANT to help you, not because they didn't help you when you wanted them to help you.
*shrug*
If I ever see you in trouble, and I am not AFK, I will help ya. And I strongly doubt anyone else on this server wouldn't follow suit! You probably were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Amazing how some people absolutely believe, like religion, it's the responsibility of everyone else do for them and be there for them whenever they demand it.

AFK in EC tunnel for ten minutes when they demand of you?
Don't log in to hold the hand of someone else with your time and effort?
You actual want to play a game for your own enjoyment?

NAY! You are a terrible, horrible awful, rotten, no good, bigot person thing.

I did this a few times

"Please help save me from this mummy (or air elemental)"

then I'd die at their feet. I didn't complain about it though, I just pictured my character dying with one hand grasping their afk ankle as they stand over me
