Kunark era I banked my old cha gear, and because I was pots bound I'd bank the OT hammer when doing HS.

Velious era I gave up on it. It doesn't make sense now that I bind at the dungeon, have faction in Chardok/SG/Velks, and have access to characters to swap to for drags.

For hs I would cap out rather than die. Make a cap mule and it's only a minor hassle

Log off for a week and do something productive with your life while corpse rots. Log back in and have GMs summon corpse in EC. This is the way.
