New "Hardcore" (Death=delete) EQ League starting..

Saturday, June 24th, 2023 is the expected start date.

Death = Delete
If your character dies, for any reason other than intentional griefing or a verified disconnect. It's permanently dead. No resurrecting, no respawning.

Only group and trade with other hardcore players
Do not group with non hardcore players for any reason.

No boosting/outside help
You can not receive items, money, buffs, or any kind of assistance from players who are NOT hardcore.

Loot only what you or your party kills
You can not loot anything that was killed by other parties, even if they leave it behind.

Only purchase default vendor items
You can not purchase anything from vendors sold by other players. You may only purchase items the NPC's sell on their own.

We're up to 25 members so far, which is actually more than I expected this early.

The plan is to go live next month, and just building it up bit by bit until then.

I think if you generate a corpse you’re out. People training you and link deaths go with the territory I think. Play it like it’s a real game where no GM is gunna revive you and your character literally becomes level 1

Otherwise I do not trust p99 players to police themselves. So it will quickly become a P990120 episode b/c some lvl 10 was accused of taking a rez.


Having to enforce a ruleset sucks. All it takes is one asshole, and one friend of the asshole, and the drama train is comin' round the bend.


It would be so tempting to roll an enchanter. Get to lvl 15 then have everyone treat you like a god until you hit 16. Then you get banned by popular guild vote to simply stay at zone ins for breezes.

The discord has grown pretty large. I didn't expect this sort of turn out, so the popular demand is there.

I don't expect P99 to actually do anything to accommodate, but that would be a dream.

Will people cheat? Maybe.

But once people get to the higher levels, there will be people in zones to witness deaths, and maybe even in your group. I guess if you snuck into some far off corner and quietly soloed, you could get away with dying... but people who are going to play like that are less likely to die anyway.

The OP has listed some possible exemptions like training or link death.

This is a mistake. The last thing you want is a bunch of people justifying why they’re playing on after dying.

Which is why I said that if you generate a corpse, you’re out. Because it’s the only way to do it, especially when claiming to be hardcore.

OP is a known nitwit, of course he doesn’t know a good ruleset he just sees classic wow doing this and says durrr what about Everquest?? This is gonna fall flat quick, most of that discord are people that are known to just troll eq projects and never play, so the numbers (albeit low already) are even lower than you’d think.
