View Full Version : Wonder why Dial-A-Port hasn't expanded their services beyond porting.

So many sister guilds they could be rocking when they want to take a break from taxi services.
Active porters want to raid with their Druids or alt characters? Dial-A-Raid.
Need to MQ an item or escort to an NPC for turn-in? Dial-A-Quest.
Poopsockers making your raid night hell? Dial-A-Train.
Get a GM in their ranks to dole out swift retribution to rule breakers with Dial-A-Ban.

Back in my day you used to be able to Dial a Dad.

I think Dial a Rez was attempted a few years back, but didn't catch on.
Porting is just quick and easy. No need to commit to some longer thing.

knights who say ni used to be one of the biggest casual guilds on the server in vanilla. you could hit them up to put anything together. they got obliterated by TMO/IB toxic culture and all subsequent productive casual guilds would be obliterated by the TMO/IB who still raid here 20 guild tags later.

What else do you want them to do? Happy endings??

If <Dial-A-Port> does want to expand their services to include rezzing, it should be under the same guild tag. Think about it. Suppose you knew DAP does ports and rezzes now. You send a message and next thing you know, a druid and a cleric run up and rez you. How did the cleric get there? The druid ported them. They split the fee or tip. And they can even port you out after rez, if desired.
If anyone is trying to create another worldwide rez service, you'll have to have in-house porters or join DAP and work within them. Doesn't seem hard.
I recommend setting a minimum, though. Maybe something like 50 plat + 25 plat per zone line the cleric has to cross...or something. Just a minimum, whatever you think it should be, or it will turn out to be not worth it.

With reach-arounds and feet, yes.

I'm just saying I'm surprised they haven't. They certainly have the numbers to support it, and doubtless that kind of additional service would be in demand and pay well.

There's a guild cleric (daphobbit) some members have access to, if you need a res send a tell to a porter asking if the cleric is available. I've done this like fifty times. Just be prepared to tip because it's way more of an imposition to ask for a rez than a simple port.
I'm referring to green, btw, not the beta server. But I'm assuming you guys should have one too.

Anybody know what Alliances DAP is part of? I applied for DAP today but I still wish to do some casual, one-day a week raiding on this Druid in the future, I.E Fear/Hate, occasional VS kill, etc. So I'd like to know what guilds, if any, are in an alliance with DAP and raid with them/earn DKP collectively.

DAP does item transfers. Or at least they did.

It's been attempted many times to do this but just never works out. We have a few guild clerics but it's mostly to rez dead druids.

Don't be that guy who tips 50pp for a rez when someone had to run 5 zones and rez you, only then for you to hold the plat back until he gives you buffs as well.

Also don't be that guy whose level 60 with their epic and only tips 15p for a port.
I don't charge for my ports, they're always free, especially if a person is low-income and really needs it, but I still get annoyed at being stiffed by someone who can clearly afford the standard rate, as shown by their level and gear.

Don’t be hasty.
Just because a character has an epic or a bunch of raid gear doesn’t mean it has a deep reservoir of pp.
Such equipment likely means they are almost exclusively fighting raid targets which quickly burns through pp for potions, ports and other consumables. Raid binds can make banking difficult. Even ignoring those factors very little pp is actually acquired while raiding.

I mean I think people on DAP would definitely do something like this for you if they had the item or the free time to escort you and you offered a good price

Not enough Wizards in DaP
Literally all you have to do to be a great porter is sit on HH with a wizard and TL people. Be bound at ToV to TL ppl from ToV
and then gate back to WC and hammer off a low level NPC back to HH. Covers almost every major port option in the game

The amount of plat you'll have to sink to be bound at ToV is not worth it. Most people bound at ToV and needing ports are in the big raiding guilds and a guildy will port them upon request. Rarely have I seen anyone ask a DAP for a port out from there.
As far as ports generally, I will always ask a Druid over a Wizard in DAP because why would I not want SoW too?

Been awhile since I did any DAP porting, but I'm not sure that they are allied with any guild. Most DAPers have their mains in those guilds and raid on those chars and said guilds have enough Druids that they don't need to bring outside Druids into a raid just to be able to get CR/FR buffs and PotG.

That bind affinity scroll is literally several pp from vendor. Not worth it on a wizard imo Invest in Neriak grapes instead.

We tried back in 2014, it didn't take off and was a reason Daprezza was made.
