Maybe I'm ignorant but I don't think I've seen this before. I cast Color Slant and the text reads "Keljemor is dazzled by scintillating colors" meaning the stun landed and I should have approximately 8 seconds to ponder who the fuck Keljemor is and what he or she is doing down near the Brood Mother camp. But evidently being "stunned" is no impediment to this beast as it continued to beat on me with aplomb. I'm used to high level mobs resisting my stuns, but with the text saying "Your target resisted the soandso."

Guess is he's too high a level to stun, but color slant has the second component of Mana Drain.

That's so fucked but that's probably the answer. So as long as the decrease mana by 100 useless side effect lands, the game considers that the spell landed successfully and was not resisted, even though it's identified and used as a stun.

I always use color slant first in a tight spot because it has a half-second quicker casting time and also a slightly bigger radius.

Player cast stuns are capped at 4 seconds duration.

It was part of a nerf to whirl til you hurl, but instead of specifically targeting the problematic spell they nerfed all player cast stuns.

Unfortunately this ended up being a huge nerf to other classes more than enchanters as enchanters have many ways to cc a mob. Stuns for other classes became little more than interrupts. At least it improved self cast spells which temporarily stun a player in exchange for a benefit.

NPCs can cast stuns for the full duration.

Seems a plausible explanation: according to wiki (https://wiki.project1999.com/Keljemor), Keljemor is a level 56 gargoyle. As far as I know any level 56+ mob is immune to stun and fear (but I could be wrong on this one).

I admit, the message displayed on the chat makes it quite confusing (and dangerous when you have a beast like that beating you on the head) but I suppose that is part of the charm of 20+ years old games.

Yes. 55+ mobs are immune to the stun component of any spells. The spell might appear to land, but the stun will not function.

Another reason to play live.
