I posted something like this elsewhere. Couldnt be arsed finding it...
If Rogean had released the p99 db into the wild, Daybreak (a commercial entity) would not have had to make a deal with p99 to help them populate their TLP servers better. P99 could have then been potentialy shut the hell down.
This is all pure speculation on my part, but it does make sense, considering p99 would rip paying customers from Daybreaks TLPs.

Hey, if you really want to get the source code and host your own server, there is a donate button on the main page. Give them enough money and maybe it'll be worth giving you all the work they've put into this out of love for the game.

All I really do on this game these days is play a specific trio with my friends on blue once in awhile. If a new pvp server dropped, especially one with features focused on longevity, I'd 100% drop Dead by Daylight and Dark Souls in a heartbeat, replacing nearly all of my game time with P99 for a very long time.

That being said, this player base is in no position to make demands.
