What is the best zone to start ?

I'm level 1 at Kelethin. I can't even kill a bat or a skeleton. I have no weapons. No money to buy weapons. And no people to group with when you are lvl 1. There is nothing that I can do :(

All starting zones are more or less the same. Why don't you have a weapon? You start the game with one.

Plus people will more than likely give you free stuff there too

Reroll or find your corpse for your newbie weapon. Go back to your guild trainer, put all your starting skill points into whatever type of weapon you have (club/1h slashing/whatever). Now you can kill level 1 stuff without dying first.

Kelethin is a great starting area, Freeport kind of sucks for people fresh to the box because from ~5-8 there are not many blues to kill. You can go beg for buffs but I don't think it makes up for all the running you have to do. You can/should go to North Ro at 5+ instead of EC if you're really set on it.

Cabilis > Qeynos > Kelethin/Felwithe >>> Most everything else >>>>>>>>>>>> Grobb/Ogguk for starting zones for fresh players, imo.

Paineel is siiiiick. Paineel > Warrens gg all time best.

Qeynos newbie yard v nice.

Gnome 4-7 kobolds.

South fp newb yard and n ro skeles.

RV is really smooth the whole way.

Rivervale is good till you max at level 7 at the goblin camps and have to move to common lands that sucks

But for level one to 7 man it’s choice especially now if they fixed the loser guard pharming operations. Pretty much level 1 to 7 rivervale is peak eq

Besides rivervale I loved butcher block mountains too, no one can complain about the whole gfay orc hill butcher block noob experience it’s pretty much a perfect game. First time I saw chessboard I was psyched like omg I just beat this game basically!

The beads, belts and scrolls in rv are great.

I think the issue is the mobs die too quick and respawn too slow if your twinked.

It’s a good olace for levelling ‘legit’ characters and bursting with flavour too

I’d argue Halas is worse. Odus has easy access to Qeynos which is one of not the best starting zones. While Halas is close to there as well it’s a very dangerous run. Odus is just a boat ride.

You should have started with a weapon in your inventory and a scroll that when read you take to your class guild master for a (pretty poor and not really needed) chest piece.

At the very start you may lose to a bat or skeleton, run to guards and reset, you will win eventually and as the skills increase to cap at lvl 1 you will start winning more and more. White cons in EQ are not like a same lvl mob in other MMO's.. a white con can whip your butt if you get some unlucky rolls.

I just recently joined in, I'm really liking greater fay/steamfont. Steamfont seems to fill some gaps between levels and getting to Crushbone. Cabalis is really solid too and I would have probably started there but my partner had other ideas :P

If this is your first character on the server and you don't know anyone that is going to help you out gear/money wise, I would recommend Qeynos as your starting city, followed by the unpopular Halas. The gnoll fang quest is really good xp and the bandit sash quest is a nice way to make pp for someone who doesn't have any.

I'm a huge fan of Qeynos and Swamp of No Hope areas. They can carry you so far without going elsewhere. I don't like field of bone compared to swamp.

The one you start in usually, unless it’s like Everfrost (I hate that place).

Freeport and Misty are my favorites but mainly for familiarity. Iksars have it REALLY good too.

imo steamfont kind of a hidden gem when butcherblock is camped up

Black Burrow is great, just watch out for that asshole grizzly bear at that roams the top level. Killed me enough times to regret it.

I have enjoyed:

GFay / Steamfront (the latter if you prefer levelling away from Crushbone). Really good camps in Steamfront for a lowbie duo or group due to lack of competition.

You have to navigate LFaydark, which provided you stick to the path and only traverse at daytime should be fine. LFaydark Camps re: sisters, have the risk of a HT from Equistrelle.

Iksar's and FOB have it made. You can level 1-20+ plus Kurn's in your backyard. The zone is partitioned so it's not too hard to move around on the map

Any zone where you can mass farm decaying skeletons. Kill them from 1-5, you should easily have 100pp worth of bone chips to trade, enough to get a decent starter weapon.

Best starting zone by far is Field of Bone. However, the fastest exp can be found in EC WC. Just get tunnel rats and druids to buff you. Regen, haste, potg and damage shield. You’ll be level 20 in 6 hours.

Yeah rolling in EC is like taking advantage of the glory that is an MMO

It’s cool both ways. I usually level traditional because I enjoy being at camps that can actually kill me and I gotta be careful smart and patient and stuff.

But I enjoy long walks on the beach too.

I would love to do some low level grouping. From level 5 to 20 would be something I haven’t experienced in a while.

Kurds tower is the closest thing to that, but then you’ll have a 60 bard come in and PL everyone in the zone.

I like Qeynos as a starting zone. But if you are in Kelethin, several runs from Felwithe to Kelethin and back doing the bard mail run will get you to level 2 and enough gold to buy a couple backpacks. Also, I like the newbie area outside Felwithe than Kelethin.
