View Full Version : Bind Points

As many of you know, a few days ago things were changed so that you can no longer bind in Kunark dungeons. This was changed because this is supposedly how it was on live. I never played live, but I'm in favor of maintaining the classic experience. This morning I saw an announcement from the staff that said we had until the end of the weekend to change our bind points if we are bound in a place (seb, chardok, KC) that we aren't supposed to be. Being bound at the Crypt myself and hoping to eventually put that pain-in-the-ass bind to use, I'm just a little bit bitter since people who were bound in Hate before they nerfed the ability were allowed to keep their binds, if I'm not mistaken. Like I said, I never played live, but unless that is how things were on live (where you could bind in Hate for a short period and then keep your bind after the nerf), it sort of establishes a double standard. I feel like people who are already bound in Kunark dungeons should be allowed to keep their bind points, just like Hate, just like TD, in the interest of consistency.

What do you think?

You have a good point, but I'm thinking we'd need to show proof that people were able to keep their bind points on live. It was fairly well documented that people were allowed to keep their TD bind points.

Correct, I remember TD Bind points and the ability to Bind in City of Mist, but not sure if you're able to on P99

According to the research found, Kunark dungeons were NEVER bindable on live. On here they were, which was a mistake. The bind changes that took place on this server should've followed what happened on live, which includes the Planes and TD no longer being bindable. A change by SoE versus a flub on here are two different things and this is only keeping that level of consistency.

Yeah, if there was a time where you could bind in PoH on live and keep your bind after the nerf, I really have no argument here. So this is confirmed how it was?

hmm on LIVE I was able to self Bind in Fear as late as LDON era (early 2004)

Nilbog: You may no longer bind in the plane in hate.

This was the patch where it was changed. I don't see anything on our sacred patch history Bible (http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/) that indicates a change to it, and I don't see a bug report related to it here on our forums. Guess that requires some insight from the people that changed it. If this is the same instance then there would be an issue of consistency.

Yes, that's my recollection as well. I had even mentioned this a while ago and assumed that I must have remembered incorrectly. From what I can recall, binding inside of a Kunark dungeon was never allowed so you could at best bind outside the dungeon. I remember this distinctly as I always bound myself inside a dungeon and would use my ports to get around. I bound at the Arch Ghoul Magi with my wizard on live and would often gate in to see if he was up..

So was anybody bound in Hate on live?

City of Mist is supposed to remain a bind spot. I still have my Prima's Offical Strategy guide buried somewhere in a box but I remember it stating in there that CoM was a legit bind spot.

No information on whether anyone was bound in hate on live but again that's the issue resolved by Nilbog or the dev that changed it. If it was not meant to be doable in the first place (like Kunark dungeons) then those binds should (most begrudgingly) be wiped. If, however, Hate was bindable at one point on live and was later changed then the devs simply followed the timeline, but that requires their feedback on the situation.

I remember CoM being mentioned as well.. is it in a particular spot like NKarana or is it just anywhere in the zone because it was some weird oddity in the Kunark realm?

Gypsy Camp in NK just south of the Guard Tower.

CoM was always considered a city and was (and still is) bindable in.

Hate to derail, but can anyone positively confirm this works? And btw it's northeast of the tower ;)

Was this posted anywhere that you cant bind in traks ledge?

Seems funny how TR made a huge push to get bound there very recently.

It's like they knew something.

Yes, you can be bound at the Gypsie camp in North Karana. I have been bound there and have bound others there..

Not sure if this is being mentioned...

Saw that players can no longer bind in Karnor/Chardok/Sebilis.

Are we still allowed to bind in COM and Kaesora entrance in Field of Bone?

It's a hard coded, "you can't bind here," so try it! CoM was listed as a place where you could bind on the bug report and there was plenty of anecdotal evidence supporting it. Not sure on Kaesora but it wasn't on the list so I think you're in luck :)

Kaesora should be allowed - my melee char was bound at the entrance there in fob on live.

I also confirmed personally that it works a few days ago if anyone is wondering - I bound a guy there.

10,000 feet above the EC Tunnel entrance.

(not really, but it would be really funny)

Hasn't happened yet, folks still bound where they shouldn't be.

hah. speaking of binding players.. I recall long ago that a guide decided that he'd had enough of the guide program and left in a big way. He summoned players from a couple of higher end guilds to a nasty place and bound them there so that they'd be stuck in death loops.. I can't recall the server name.. It made for some interesting reading and screenshots though :-)
