Doesnt work.
I followed all technical support stuff before posting.
i found 3 different youtube videos on trouble shooting followed all using the account data i've used for years on windows 10 doesnt work.
I also started from scratch doesnt work.
I've tried Wired and wireless. w/o vpn from same network i used on my last pc.
I've also created a windows 10 virtual machine, did all this same stuff doesn't work.
same saved files on external HD work on old pc.
Where exactly are you crashing to login? When camping in-game, or when trying to get to char select, or entering world, when zoning?
As a suggestion - all the resolutions you listed as trying aren't 4:3 aspect ratios.

What exactly is occurring when the client "crashes"? Assuming that you are attempting to connect, hang, then get kicked back to the login screen you are most likely timing out. If that is the case try to flush your DNS (https://beebom.com/how-flush-dns-cache-windows-11/) and/or power cycle (reset) your network devices (https://mpw.org/help/how-to-power-cycle-your-router-and-modem/) then try to connect again.

its pretty fast from clicking login at server select to crashing back to enter password. maybe 1 second.
You can't even get to char select ok... You said the same files work on another PC. Have you tried deleting or renaming eqclient.ini (the one you're actually using - if you installed in program files you'll need to look in appdata) so eqgame will generate a default one on next launch?

Just curious... how fast is your proc, this type of issue would happen to me if I was over the 4.xGHz limit

I've experienced similar issues excessively over the last few days. I've been documenting what I'm seeing and can start a new thread, but it sounds similar to this.
System: Win10, Titanium Client, Running as admin and in Win XP SP2 compatibility mode
Issues:
Enter account name and password, client hangs trying to login
Select blue server to join, receive error “An unknown error occurred while trying to join the server.”
Try to join world from character select, game times out and kicks me to login screen
Try to zone, game times out and kicks me to login screen
Camping out to character select, game times out and kicks me to login screen
Sometimes a message appears across the screen saying I have been disconnected, but most of the time it just goes to the login screen
Sometimes kicking to login screen takes the full 120 second timeout, other times it only takes a few seconds.
Starting late last night (long after the quake) and into today things are better, but I still get dropped to login regularly. For the last 3-4 days it was almost every time I zoned or tried to login.
Logs from dbg.txt after being kicked to login screen:

Seems consistent that the login or zone server is dropping my connection. I have not changed my laptop, client, network, router, or ISP anytime in the last few months.
Have you tried connecting via other means, such as a cell hotspot, vpn, or a friend using another isp?

VPN might have helped, but I didn't test it enough to be conclusive. Changed to a new laptop running Win11 and crashing/disconnecting is rare again. Who knows. Still seems odd to me that the dbg logs seem to suggest the server dropped me, but maybe I was sending malformed data.

I am having very similar issues and the more adjustments I try to make the more it seems to be a server issue and not my computer or internet connection issue. It has been more apparent since the most recent patch. Making it difficult to enjoy P99 EQ. I am having issues with just having the servers even show up. When they do, and I get to select one (Blue P99 generally), I try to log a toon in and it freezes. I end up task manager force quitting and trying again till it works. If I actually get in, then its a russian roulette with zoning if I am going to have the same thing occur, zone, freeze, task manager force quit EQ. Fun stuff.

I am also having similar issues.
First off. The only way I can actually play the game is by running WinEQ2. For some reason starting through that gets me a chance to play. Beyond that it’s sometimes issues where it kicks me immediately back to the login screen. Other times it’s crashing at character selection.
I’m starting to wonder if it’s a connection isssue, but I’m not really sure.

This may be a coincidence, I will try to verify over the next few days, but I switched my internet connection over to my iPhone hotspot and it seems to have fixed the logging in issues.
I will keep you posted.

I’m 99% that the crashing issues on zoning and logging in are network related. I have very good internet at home, great up and down speed, but I’m wondering if my ping is an issue?
Nonetheless, for those having these types of issues, just try connecting through a different network, maybe that will fix the problem?

I didnt have this problem until yesterday after I updated my graphics drivers. The update was long overdue. I have always had windows set to compatibility xp svc pack 2 until yesterday. everytime i launched EQ after the update i would gett a reset to zero error and could proceed no further, So, i removed the compatbiliy option and can log in and play but then on camping I crash 100% of the time ( so far). I have taken the steps to limit my processor to one core. I have since moved back a few driver updates but I am really just picking them at random. I have no idea what radeon version i was one prior to updating.
I removed compatibility mode based on this thread. https://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=392356&highlight=crashing+camping
Sorry, it was a runtime error not a reset to zero error

I get the exact same behavior on my AMD 7900x, but that's due to the base clock being over 4.2Ghz. Locking to 42 in bios is the only solution I've found that works. Your 7600 shouldn't have this issue having a base clock of 3.8, though.

You have the same processor as I do. I think it's some kind of race condition or something timing out. I solved it by doing the following:
boot to your bios
change the clock speed down so your processor is running at ~3 ghz
Now it works.
Note: changing my processor speed using other methods (gigabyte control panel, etc.) did NOT work. None of the other tips about compatibility mode, etc., worked. Only slowing my clock speed down in the BIOS. Now it works 100% of the time.

That's a shame. I built a new AMD PC and have the exact same issue: "crashes to menu screen after clicking on the p1999 server I'd like to join"
Never had this issue on my previous PC and under clocking won't be an option as I do all my heavy lifting on this PC.
I know Project Quarm put in a fix for the AMD speed issue issue and it works fine for me now. But it would be great to see that on p1999 so I can access all my high level toons...
Any chance at a solution that doesn't involve changing my system BIOS?

your CPU is running to fast for the client anything over 4.2 and you will crash as youre crashing.
easiest fix - retard your CPU on your bios to 4.2. Titanium will read this number and let you in. You can also download ryzenmaster software to unretard your CPU by clicking run at default settings and titanium will still read the 4.2 and let you in while ur cpu cruises at 5+

now download ryeznmaster and click Apply - under the default Control mode profile - this ill keep your bio's setting to 4.2 max - but you will go back to default speeds. Titanium only reads what your bio's is capped too - you can run 4.7+

im a ryzen 9 7900x
bios capped at 4.2 - running ryeznmaster software resets to deufalt speeds - crusing at 5.7 max and P99 loves it
A more elegant solution would be to set BIOS as you want/can/need desired then use software profiling to downclock to 4175 on EverQuest client launch
or lesser so use as Ryzen Master - basic view > manual Control mode and reduce the speed to 4175mhz then run the game
Oooor developers could patch in a fix!
Either way unless I have missed it a sticky on this that if nothing else said AMD users(or is it instruction language based?) do not operate over 4.2ghz or X symptoms will occur
It would at least help players understand what is occurring

now download ryeznmaster and click Apply - under the default Control mode profile - this ill keep your bio's setting to 4.2 max - but you will go back to default speeds. Titanium only reads what your bio's is capped too - you can run 4.7+

We got similar set ups here. Sorry for asking but I am very unsure of the settings you mean. When in BIOS it seems like clock speed is a combination of the other settings. What did you change exactly to get it down to 4.2GHZ?
Trying to use your fix because it seems to be the most logical.

I'm having the same issues, except I'm on an AMD Ryzen 5 5600H, which is 3.3 default and capped at 4.2.
FIIK, it takes me upwards of 3 hours to get a successful log in....once I am in, I can stay logged in. But if I have to close the game for any reason, or it crashes....I have to set aside an entire evening simply to log back in.
