15 years ago the average Democrat would have been completely on point with what I'm saying, but in 2023 such a notion offends them.

I would just say you’re a moron because even during Obama US was giving aide to the Ukraine war. Remember the annex of Crimea? We were still in Afghanistan.

In fact it really started with Bush. But Republicans are mostly butt hurt because of the fact they accepted so much cash from Russia that they don’t like seeing them hurt especially since Russia was the brain child of MAGA.

During President George W. Bush’s eight years in office, from 2001 through 2008, the U.S. government provided about $1.1 billion to Ukraine, government figures reveal.

Congress almost doubled the amount of aid provided to Ukraine during President Barack Obama’s eight years in the White House, supplying $2.1 billion. (https://www.foxbusiness.com/money/money-to-ukraine)

Republican’s really hated losing their Troll farm memes.

Disregard all this BlueAnon mouth-frothing cope fest.

We're dumping WAY more money and military equipment into Ukraine now. $70 Billion as of November 2022 (https://www.csis.org/analysis/aid-ukraine-explained-six-charts) We spent an average of $90 Billion a year while we were in Iraq.

We've traded one war for another.

And you're 100% fine with that.

You work at Raytheon or somethin?

Yes he has.

We're just not dying there yet.

But we are spending like a full on military campaign.

We were spending 90 Billion a year while in Iraq. In 9 months, we've spent 70 Billion in Ukraine.

It's not normal. And you shouldn't be so nonchalant about it.

War is big business. A lot of money being made and we are now exporting a good amount of natural gas. The stakes in Ukraine go way beyond the future of the Ukrainian state and people.

Trust in the fact that we aren't spending all of that for humanitarian reasons.

2022 - United States budgeted $38 billion for foreign aid spending. As of this reporting (https://www.concernusa.org/story/foreign-aid-by-country/), it has disbursed over $32 billion. Almost 25% of that budget has gone to just ten countries:

Ethiopia ($1.13 billion)
Jordan ($1.03 billion)
Afghanistan ($860 million)
South Sudan ($821 million)
Congo ($814 million)
Yemen ($814 million)
Nigeria ($803 million)
Syria ($774 million)
Sudan ($488 million)
Somalia ($475 million)

Many of them are in war.

You would have to be a moron to think the US is in their wars. "Sorry not dying there yet."

MAGA idiots need to address this as a war between the US and Russia desperately hanging at bated breath for intellectual direction from Troll farms to be hopefully unblocked.

That's foreign aid.

Not war.

And we're paying over double that in 9 months specifically for a war.

Trump aside, any conservative subreddit on Reddit should immediate be named RINO because it’s on Reddit IMO

That’s like having a conservative on MSNBC

Edit: this is unless Reddit has changed in the last 5ish years since I’ve been banned to be less politically biased on a whole. It still wouldn’t change the fact that upvote and especially downvote feature just causes mob mentality bullying and is a dogshit feature when it comes to having fair discussions

Why does Germany get to block anyone from sending tanks? (https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/19/politics/us-germany-ukraine-tanks-weapons/index.html)

According to the article it’s Germany saying you have to send ultra high tech shit and the US saying that’s too expensive

At least it does seem like a line drawn in the sand by us, although I also think we have been sending too much money and weapons. Why not just send everything we possibly can, even at huge determinant to our safety? If the goal is for Ukraine to win?

Obviously there needs to be a “too much” line and I just think that line has already been crossed

Any day now Ukraine gonna win this new 100 years war tho amirite

unsunghero

Is this also like a possible sunk cost fallacy thing? Where we’ve invested so much into Ukraine not losing that we are willing to financially ruin ourselves rather than cut our losses?

Let’s hope not

I don’t think it’s good for one side to argue that being financially unable to send more aid is being “pro Russia” or something, whether that point has been reached yet or not

That’s like saying someone you love has cancer, they have a gofundme going for their treatment, you donate all you can like $500, and it’s far from enough for them to get their treatment. So everyone else says “wow I guess you want them to die then, didn’t realize you were pro-cancer”

Yeah, it has a jet engine.

When we were sending the Soviets tons of shit during WW2, we couldn't send them any Sherman tanks because it required special fuel the Soviets were either too dumb or poor to obtain.

So it's not a new problem.

Something about re-exporting if it's Leopards. Probably a clause saying if you import our tanks you can't go and export them without our permission.
