Can anyone say a bit about this server? How classic-like is it? Does it have a bunch of unusual mechanical quirks, etc.? Class balance similar to P99?

PvP rules: no teams? Any loot? I can see the level range in the FAQs but nothing about teams or loot.

What can be bought with PvP points?

Are any items removed, e.g. instant pumice and crimson pots?

Are resists classic-like or the abomination that red99 had in the beginning where spells basically just always landed even at 100+ resists?

Hop in the discord OP posted, should be a bunch of info there. The mechanics were designed by people who played red for years. So ya no instant pumice, FFA +/-4, resists are improved and one item of droppable bag loot on pvp kill. It'll have a better population then any eqemupvp box when it launches on the 28th and no plugging. This season is a little more custom then usual.

the explanation that i heard that made the most sense to me was;

you download their .dll, and while its open;

they can see the all of the processes that's happening on ur machine, similar to task manager. the data is very limited, no usernames or passwords

it lets them see if ur 9 boxing because you have 9 windows of eq open

unfortunately, as of 2 years ago, it lets them see which tabs u have open in ur web browser if ur looking at things u would be ashamed of ppl knowing while playing everquest

the biggest criticism i can make of the server, if it's even a criticism, is that it's more like a devnoob server than r99

in order to progress your character, you actually have to engage in pvp

this will discourage most r99 players who really enjoy training (which doesn't earn you points) or enjoy mass leveling alts (which is ineffective because they don't have pvp points)

also, too many karanas

It's just old and boring now, guild vs guild - assist target dispell zerg down, assist target dispell zerg down.

On top of that people won't even engage, it'll be nerd with ego #1 playing meta farming free kills. You can compete by doing the same boring thing.

The days of 50 vs 50 without team speak zoning into a chaos filled zone are gone boys, cry, grieve, and move on.

I'm playing live for my nostalgia fix for fun, new expansion which is gay, but I use this Redguides MQ program that lets your toons act as literal ai, my paladin pulls uses all his shit automatically stuns discs heals, i have a cleric sham rogue mage ench (free to play accnts) all auto running my pally is 120 with almost max aa's just auto running it.

It's kinda fun and different, but I'm still a loser. I joined this raid and there was like smoker sounding old women who act like abused housewives to the raid leader and suck his dick he's like a classic narcissist raging guy huge ego, I'm gona try to fuck these guys up somehow. The people u should hear them on Discord, I mean discord was the worst invention for the internet I swear to god these fucking losers holy shit.

The doxxer was Secrets, and hes no longer involved with these servers.

Ive played every single one of these RoZ servers, and they are a shitload of fun. Highly recommend.

Secrets hasn't been on RoZ since 2.0

Also, Rogean also used secrets "AntiCheat" for many years, and likely still uses some form of it.

RoZ's anticheat is minimally invasive.

General Things to Know

A full release schedule is found here and most major updates can be scrolled through here (must be in our discord, see top right of this document)

5 month season. 2 months Classic, 3 months Kunark.

Binding rules are Cities + Encampants*(See below) only.

A quick overview of PvP rules & mechanics:
PvP is +/- 4 levels
Characters can flag FFA if they help a player above their PvP range. FFA flag lasts several minutes.
Many zones are flagged FFA & Lockout, and have a level requirement. These rules, if any, will be displayed when you enter.

Boxing rules are set to 3 per person.

Corpses decay in 2.5 hours, and 6 hours in raid zones. Corpses can be retrieved at any Priest of Discord in a starting city when they rot.

Bards are removed. In their place, we have added Beastlords.

Bazaar has been enabled
- Accessible via the East Commonlands tunnel
- Cannot cast spells or melee while inside

Guilds are created by the server staff. Message Skeeter if you wish to create one.

PvP Mechanics


When you die in PvP, you are sent to the Island of Misfits (Safe Zone). When you are ready to go back to your bind point, click any torch or campfire in the zone. If you die again within a short time frame, you will be locked to the Island of Misfits for a short duration.

Players accrue Infamy when they get PvP kills. Infamy is a metric to track a player’s bounty. When a player dies in PvP, a percentage of their total Infamy is stolen and given to the person who gets the kill. If the killer is in a group, Infamy and points are divided amongst the group.

The number of PvP points earned is determined by the Infamy of the player killed, and a small bonus is also applied based on one’s own Infamy. Type #infamy in game to bring this information back up.


PvP Mechanics Continued

We have added PvP vendors that sell many different items. Some are augments you can slot into gear you acquire out in the world, some are custom spells, and some are items that can be worn. To see a full list, see this link. These vendors will be located in every city for you to view.
NPCs in many different zones have a chance to drop 2-slot and 3-slot augment gear in place of their original drop. E.g. a Skull Shaped Barbute has a chance to drop as 0, 2, or 3-slot augmentable version of itself.
Additionally, low-grade augments can be obtained by PvEing as well, but the best augments come from PvP vendors.

PvP Resist Notes

Root Soft cap set to 92%. The formula is Your Level + 60. So at level 50, you will need 110 MR to hit 92% resist rate on root.
Every additional 10MR = 1% chance to resist. At 190 MR, you will have achieved immunity to Root effects.
Some notes on Raids

Most Raid targets for now are set to 5 days +/- 8 hour variance
Most Raid targets banish pets if they are tanking
Plane of Fear and Plane of Hate trash is set to 24 hour respawn
Plane of Sky was changed dramatically from its classic version
You can access the zone by paying Rushka Deklamoor a small fee in East Commons (Solo Method). The regular method of group teleports is still an option
Buffs will not be stripped upon landing inside
No keys needed to travel island-to-island
Death Touch is disabled in this zone
A graveyard has been set up in the zone. All corpses will pop up on Island 1 after 20 minutes

Encampments

A legacy Rise of Zek mechanic is back. Encampments provide a way for guilds to quickly mobilize and rebuff.
To claim an encampment, a guild must buy an Encampment Deed from the North Freeport Office of Landholders. Turn it into any of the Encampment Lot NPCs and each Encampment Location.
Bind slots at encampments are limited to 36 characters. Melee are given a long cooldown gate item if they own an Encampment
NPCs that both guard and buff the owning guild are available at encampments
If an enemy guild destroys the bind stone, the encampment is lost
There is a token guilds can use to make their encampment immune for 15 hours.
Encampment locations are hand placed by server staff

The way it avoids devnoob counter strike pvp is by keeping PvE relevant and the most important path for progression. The pvp points help fill in some gaps for itemization or allow pure pvpers to have some sub par gear without the PvE.

The changes are intuitive. The gameplay is the same, you will still be doing the same stuff you would do on a 100% classic box.

The improvement being you can play a rogue in classic and have access to a 13 dmg weapon. The resists are in a better spot than red99 with root/snare and a solid partial dmg system with direct damage spells vs outright resist or full dmg.

Even though PvP points were added, the system was designed with making sure it didn't diminish any PvE progression.

Another positive, the client is leagues ahead of titanium. You download the patcher and it installs everything with 1 click. The ui even has several versions preloaded similar to duxai. You can be up and running with a much better client with 1 click to try it out.

I will play probably casually as no bards. Simple solution to fixing bards is making selos self only (I did it on Dragonspear, and bards were mediocre at best.)

Would love to see some one try to recreate an OG permanent version of EverQuest PvP.

I love a good drug box, but my body is ready for the pure classic experience that Brad intended (and we haven't truly experienced in many years - since P99 red release.)

RoZ doesn't have the melee weapon damage bonus bug that red99 has, so it isn't just every melee running around spamming ranged attacks

So like, resignate yourself, work for months to try to reinvigorate red and then no one has the energy or care to start on the new server after seeing old red deader than dead overnight. Then youre left with 2 dead servers.

Best feature of Live PVP was the shitty internet connections. When you would zone 50vs50 the zone would crash and everyone would log in groupless in chaos. There was also no teamspeak.

It will never be fun again, ever. How does that make u guys feel in your souls that you're chasing a high you'll never have again.

Boring gimmicky pvp now where everyone has TS dispell/wand chains where theres nothing you can do to stop it, you're better off playing DOTA or FPS.
