To a point I like that I kind of complexity but EVE is a sort of hands-off space game where you're not actually piloting anything right? And isn't it too late to get started considering everything takes real life time?

As a long time EVE player I would describe it this way.

Start Citizen and Elite Dangerous are star ship flying sims.

EVE online is a space military industrial complex sim.

there's different play styles for different people, like 99% of pvpers have never used a spreadsheet to play, and the best spreadsheeters don't even undock from a space station in a spaceship. there basically playing different video games in the same universe and both rely on the other to whatever it is they fucking do in the game so the entire ecosystem functions

but if your into "high level" pve or pvp... nothing else is even in the same fucking ballpark as eve

public fleet i was on, 37 dudes use wormholes to quickly move into enemy controlled territory to try to get some juicy kills before a response fleet can be pinged on discord to deal with us. i die pretty quickly but get on kills worth about 10x what my ship was worth

Eve has more drama than a furry convention. Cookie clicker is a much deeper game imo
