The European Heat Wave and Global Warming (https://cliffmass.blogspot.com/2022/07/the-european-heat-wave-and-global.html)
There is a lot of talk about the short-term European heatwave with some suggesting that the record-breaking warmth is the result of climate change/global warming.
Some of the media and climate advocates have been over the top in their claims (see below), stating that this event was the result of human-caused global warming.
The truth and overwhelming scientific evidence provide a different story: the recent European heatwave is mainly the result of natural processes but was enhanced modestly by human-caused global warming.

I’m not convinced this shows scaremongering. The second map is more informative as it uses colour to show the spread of temperatures instead of topography. It’s the temperature forecast/report after all.
If you’re trying to discredit the recent record breaking European heatwave by showing it was hotter in 2017 then you’re showing the wrong date. The heat wave was in July, which is the 7th month, not the 6th. 18-19thish.

Yes, the 2nd map shows most of Germany and Northern France practically 'on fire' with those temps that are -5-7 degrees on average below the first map.
25 C = 77 F.. it's definitely fearmongering to color code anything beet red for 77 F in June/summer, in Southern Germany.

From a quarter to half of Earth’s vegetated lands has shown significant greening over the last 35 years largely due to rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide, according to a new study published in the journal Nature Climate Change on April 25.

While I certainly think carbon emissions raise global average temperature slightly, a lot of the hysteria around it is just that; hysteria. It also conveniently takes on an unfalsifiable nature for people (dems, progressives) who use it as political fear mongering. "Vote for us or everyone will DIEEEEE". When its cold, or hot, or there's a big hurricane, or not enough hurricanes, or too many, it's all "climate change". And we must ACT (ie vote for dems) right nowwwww!!! Meanwhile, their policy proposals would kill millions of poor people in the 3rd world who depend on fossil fuels for daily life. Bougie libs don't care or are simply ignorant of that. Sorry greta, but you're a psycho :(
In reality, if sea levels rise by one foot over one hundred years, people will simply adapt to that. The earth is four billion years old, we've only been keeping accurate weather records for the last 150ish years. The earth has been much hotter than it is, and much colder than it is, many times just based on simple geology. The amount of carbon humans produce is a blip. They just have a hate boner for humanity, it's bizarre. They always say we need fewer people, but they never count themselves among the group of "too many", of course.
Stop panicking libs, or at least stop shitting on elon musk who has done more than any other single person to combat carbon emissions.

Yeah you can always find a few outliers in any group; the point is that the left wing political establishment in the US and other modernized western nations have been broadly rejecting nuclear energy for decades now, because they just hear the word "nuclear" and think "atomic bomb" and then their brains turn off.

Three Mile Island pretty much killed nuclear power development in the United States. Anything "nuclear" has become verboten, nevermind technologies like liquid salt reactors, thorium, etc, that are effectively unrelated to the more problematic high pressure steam reactors. Unfortunately enough the development freeze also means a bunch of those high pressure reactors remain in service because there's no politically viable replacement for them.
I also think killing off the Yucca project was a mistake; it would've been excellent for its intended purpose.
There's too much overlap between the folks who profess concern for the climate and folks who really just despise humanity and want to see humanity reverted to some sort of semi-industrial condition. That group tends to oppose any development of any sort. I support development of newer forms of energy--it's necessary for a lot of reasons, not just climate--but in a manner that continues advancing the human condition rather than hamstringing our civilization.

As far as "old" fission tech, the Palo Verde reactor is about as perfect a situation as it could get - 40 miles from Phoenix, reactors are cooled entirely by waste water from said Phoenix metropolitan area.
First and only of a kind in the world, if I recall.
Contrast that with the boondoggle that is the Ivanpah solar generation plant, and the solution is clear.

EDIT for what it's worth, its output is~32,000 GWh annually - that's more than thirty-seven (37) times the capacity of the Ivanpah facility ~850 KWh) on the CA/NV border , on around the same footprint (~4,500 - 5,000 acres) of pristine Mojave desert they wrecked and now blind everyone driving the 15.. oh and check out this CRAZY temperature inversion that I recorded a couple years ago, causing a nice dust storm- not to mention the cooked birds and 500,000,000 cu ft of natural gas it consumes just to start the turbines in the morning lol
