When Christ returns Proverbs 11:4 will be quite meaningful.
"Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death."

The middle-class plan for college for kids + retirement
The ultra-wealthy plan for multi-generational wealth
Christians plan for eternity
What's your time horizon? Further out = wealthier
Another worthwhile verse:
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Bitcoin is nothing special save for its critical mass and notoriety. I believe the more saturated the market gets with alternative viable cryptos, the more diluted BTC's value will be.
Would be nice to see it work well and succeed though. Im not against it, I just dont see it breaking $500,000 like some dingle dorf said on the TV the other day.

Re-read that ^ and now you know why you don't believe that is true of USD and why you shouldn't believe it's true of BTC. If you don't know why Bitcoin isn't being challenged by other cryptos to be "money" it's because you don't understand Bitcoin. Learn more.

Bitcoin was made to be used as currency not a speculative asset for the rich. When it's stupidly high and network is congested you pay high fees and it's slow ergo not usable as a currency. On April 21 2021 the fee to send any amount was $62. Send someone $1 and you pay $62 fees. Great deal.
Just saying as someone who bought in 2014 after the mtgox crash and was aware of it even earlier but it was a hassle to buy then. I really dislike the new age crypto/tech bros and Elon worshippers that try to bring crypto into every conversation and don't even feel bad he scammed you into buying doge

Lightning Network (LN). Send Bitcoin instantly for almost free on Layer 2 of the bitcoin blockchain. Learn more here: https://lightning.network/ This is what will allow Bitcoin to be used as a currency. Pssst, this is what El Salvador is using.
If you want Layer 1 settlement (sending bitcoin on the bitcoin network) it's right now $0.06 to $1.60, depending if you want it sent in ~10 minutes to 4 hours. In the future, people will use Layer 2 solutions like LN for daily transactions. Layer 1 settlement will only be for large amounts or important transactions like mortgages.
I have been in crypto longer than you and most people for that matter. Not going to share my bitcointalk forum handle and dox myself, sorrynotsorry.
If you buy a dog-themed coin you deserve to get hosed
There are YUGE opportunities in DeFi, just like tech stocks in the late 90s. Most will fail. Most people will get hosed. Just buy BTC and HODL unless you actually want full-time employment researching/investing in crypto.

Never said I agreed with forcing people to use bitcoin. Bitcoin is a long-term store of value, it's not a unit of account for day-to-day transactions yet.
It's pretty simple. Put the money that you don't need today in bitcoin. Hold it for at least 4 years. If you're putting in the money you may need in the next 4 years, you'll become a forced seller and potentially lose money.
It's not rocket science, but I doubt few of you geniuses will do it ;)

Kaveh, whether they go insolvent or not is immaterial to the bitcoin value proposition. Getting overleveraged or down bad on one's cash flow is a personal finance problem, not a bitcoin problem.
Holding bitcoin over long periods of time will preserve or even grow your wealth. The turbulence along the way shakes out the greedy, the poor money managers, the fairweather fools, and the like. I love it.

BTW, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, your masters, disagree with you.
They released as a part of their working paper series a white paper: "The Lightning Network: Turning Bitcoin into Money"
https://www.clevelandfed.org/~/media/content/newsroom%20and%20events/publications/working%20papers/2022/wp2219.pdf
Abstract
The Lightning Network (LN) is a means of netting Bitcoin payments outside the blockchain. We find a significant association between LN adoption and reduced blockchain congestion, suggesting that the LN has helped improve the efficiency of Bitcoin as a means of payment. This improvement cannot be explained by other factors, such as changes in demand or the adoption of SegWit.
We find mixed evidence on whether increased centralization in the Lightning Network has improved its efficiency. Our findings have implications for the future of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment and their environmental footprint.
Listen to and obey your masters.

Castle2.0

The macro:
The same reason everything is dropping: the central bank raised rates. It makes borrowing more expensive. This is supposed to slow spending. The stated goal is to bring inflation under control (officially at 9.1%, and supposedly they want 2%.)
The micro:
You also had some large over-leveraged entities rehypothecating capital. We're all geniuses in a bull run. When prices start to fall things unwind. These over-leveraged entities are forced to sell to recapitalize their loans/positions. The lenders holding these loans may go insolvent because they aren't being repaid by the risky borrowers who borrowed from them.
You can look up 3AC (3 Arrows Capital), Celsius, and BlockFi to name some. Oh and TERRA/LUNA. We had a big dip because they had a large BTC reserve they were forced to sell to try to keep the peg their "algorithmic stablecoin." I don't trust algo stablecoins. If I want to be in fiat, I use normal stablecoins like USDC, USDT, BUSD.

Tesla shared the sale of the holdings as part of its regular quarterly update. It said Bitcoin was one of the factors that hurt its profitability.

Good lord, lmao.
Luckily college students are pretty saavy these days. I went back to school at 30 (about 10 years ago), and even then, students were sharing around PDF's of the textbooks to save each other money. I even had a couple professors suggest googling the PDF of their class textbook to download (as a study resource *wink wink*) because they knew it was readily available online.

Bitcoin follows the course of American stock exchanges, this has been observed for a long time: during the growth of indices, the price of bitcoin also increases, and during the fall it decreases. My analysis skill after training did not let me down, Visit blog bhero.com (https://blog.bhero.com) in order to better understand the cryptocurrency. The downward trend in the US stock market is for a long time since the dynamics of inflation in the US promise a further increase in the Fed rate and, accordingly, a decrease in the quotations of the technology sector.

Only if you know how to invest properly. Otherwise, no!
But before you learn how to invest in certain assets, you first need to understand what to invest in. Right now, the best choices are either stocks or cryptocurrencies. Personally, I can recommend the second option because it is much more volatile and will potentially bring you more income, but you also run the risk of losing a lot!
After you learn how to invest properly, I advise you to buy bitcoins with debit card no verification (https://j2tx.com/buy-bitcoin/without-id). But don't forget about risk management and money management! Otherwise you run the risk of losing a lot!

We do not live in a sustainable economic system.
Flat out, you cant. You wont be able to. And your kids will have as much less of an oppotunty to do so, as you do compared to your parents, compared to you.
we reached capacity for our economy like 20 years ago, and we saw what happened, we pushed it further and it collapsed.
Right now a home in your home town is 300% more for you, than it was for your parents, and for your kids it will be 1000% more for them.
Again, not inflation, the value of your dollar now compared to the value then. Homes, after inflation, are 300% more than they would be if you were born 50 years earlier.
Our. Economy. Is. Not. Sustainable.
It flat out does not work. Full stop. It failed like 15 years ago.
It.
Doesn't.
WORK!
The math does not add up.
There is no future here. None.
That's why they say you wont own anything. Because ownership in this system (this capitalist system) IS NOT SUSTAINANABLE.
They know this, they've run the numbers. The math proves it.
In the future, you wont own anything, because there will be nothing left to own because there is no more room.
Period.

If liberalism/socialism worked we'd have some pretty amazing high tech homeless mental hospitals completely paid for by their communities in that area.
Since that is literally the design of the system we have in this country, a commitment that the communities would take care of the mentally ill after we shut down the hospitals.

On topic - why El Salvador needed to solve their remittances problem with BITCOIN!!!
Trump clamps down on El Salvador's 'lifeline' (https://money.cnn.com/2018/01/08/news/economy/el-salvador-remittances/index.html)
Salvadorans in the United States sent home a record amount of money in 2016, and the totals from 2017 are on pace to break the record.
From January through November, Salvadorans sent home $4.51 billion in remittances, according to the country's central bank. For all of 2016, Salvadorans mailed $4.57 billion to family and loved ones.
That's a huge sum for a relatively poor country of 6 million people. The entire economic output of El Salvador last year was $27 billion, according to estimates from the International Monetary Fund. Mexico has about 20 times as many people and took in only about six times as much in remittances through November.
The amount of money sent home to loved ones also dwarfs the $88 million that El Salvador received in aid from the United States last year.

This country was founded on taking a continent from the people already living here. It’s not like it was, it’s way more moral and ethical
We have insane people wearing mega tits and teaching shop class. That is admittedly a fringe but very real problem that we’re supposed to pretend in the name of tolerance that strong and obvious mental illness is permissible, but yeah man, a home with a view? That’s still affordable in Sheridan wyoming or rapid city, SD. And to be honest, I’d rather live in either of those places than Philly or NYC. But let’s say you want a city. Lincoln, Nebraska is affordable and so is Columbus, Ohio
I don’t pretend it’s the same. But I also won’t pretend we’ve ever had this level of social pathology. People used to find meaning in church, family, and work. Now everyone think they’re supposed to be a Bitcoin millionaire. That isn’t life, and even if it were, it would be so unfulfilling that you’d be putting on tits to go teach shop class and pretending that the emotion you feel is happiness when it’s just a profound emptiness being filled temporarily by the attention you receive for your own vapid and obviously hollow lifestyle
Be careful what you wish for. Take off the tits and go west young man. Find the opportunities that still exist. Which isn’t to say that we don’t have corruption and graft.

Time to invest in a strike, around Christmas?
The questions and answers will be available to rail workers by the time they vote on the agreement. That 21-day voting period is expected in mid- to late October, and the results are expected by late November, according to a tweet from SMART Union.
As FreightWaves previously reported, it’s not definite that workers will vote for this contract — meaning a rail strike could still occur. Charles Stallworth, a train conductor, said last week that he did not fully support the tentative agreement.

I think there was a golden age between 1946 - 1980.
We were living high off the victory of WW2. There weren't a ton of women in the workforce (half the workforce, more money could be had from workers). I also think the threat from Communism was so high that there was focus on growing the middle class, for propaganda purposes.
I remember my grandpa telling me he could buy off his house (or car?) within 1 year on a single salary, all while comfortably providing for a family of four.
It was possible for mom to stay home. It was possible to own a home, with a couple of cars, and live comfortably.
That WAS possible. But I don't think its possible anymore. And I think we need to come to terms with that.
But hey, maybe we could fight in another world war and start the whole thing over again...

Plenty of western politicians have publically praised China's Social Credit System, so I wouldn't be surprised if true.

At least with the investment dollar losing its value, the value of the dollar is holding strong, with no inflation... right?

I see no reason to invest in bitcoin, in other cryptocurrencies. Too unstable income, which essentially does not depend on my efforts. For me, this kind of income is not suitable. I prefer to run my own business. This is also difficult, but thanks to singapore business listings (https://incorporatebusinessonline.net/), I can quickly find specialists and various agencies that provide services for solving my issues related to, for example, accounting or business management.

Hahaha, the bots.
Bitcoin was recently 'dead' at $14k. I guess it's now dead at $26k. Sorrynotsorry you didn't buy any at $14k.
Onward to $100k! Probably another big dip with real global recession setting in, but they will ultimately print. We pump... or we mega pump.

Analysis: US SEC crackdown on Coinbase, Binance puts crypto exchanges on notice (https://logll.com/us-sec-crackdown-coinbase-and-binance-face-legal-action/)
Conclusion
The US SEC’s lawsuits against Coinbase and Binance have put other crypto exchanges on notice, potentially exposing them to regulatory actions. As the SEC strengthens its authority over the crypto industry, exchanges must adapt to the changing regulatory landscape. While the lawsuits play out in court, the industry faces uncertainty, with potential long-term consequences for the crypto economy in the United States. Clear regulations and open dialogue between regulators and industry participants are essential to foster innovation and protect investors in the evolving crypto market.
“All U.S. exchanges should now be on notice that they may be subject to enforcement action if they permit, or have permitted, these tokens to be traded.” – Jason Allegrante, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer at Fireblocks.
“I don’t think that this SEC under this leadership necessarily cares whether they win or lose in the courts. I think what they are engaging in is a coordinated campaign to essentially destroy the crypto economy in the United States.” – Stuart Alderoty, Chief Legal Officer at Ripple.

Hasn't crypto always been a "get in and get out quick" game? I mean it's transparently a pyramid scheme, the people with the most hoarded are the only ones trying to talk it up so they can offload before the boat sinks

It's at it's highest price in a year, I think a lot of people stopped watching it.

lol.. uhh i'm not an alt account. Also you are dumb. Blackrock is filing an etf w coinbase as the main exchange. Do u really think 1 group of elites can stop a "decentralized currency?" If so.. Short it provide some liquidity into the market. if most people in this thread are against it and 100% sure BTC is going no where and dead you'd 35x leverage and short it to make millions. You could be the next SBF!
They've been trying since day 1 and BTC is still 25-30k,highest return since the year began. Longer you wait the more you pay /shrug Not financial advice. My online perspective on this went from lets educate people about it to....it's better that you don't know cause that leaves more BTC for me to buy. The amount being held in exchanges are in a downward trend.
if you bought in 2021 you're only down 30k per coin.
you keep those bags, king

Oh look it is Zati just as predicted - just as he was - on the last 4 straight Bitcoin threads created by Castle. What was it... like since April too? What a surprise. Pretty sad Castle... Pretty sad.
Crypto pledged to dethrone Wall Street. It’s getting swallowed instead. (https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2023/07/08/crypto-wall-street-regulation/)
Maybe when tamed by Blackrock. Especially when Bitcoin is 50% if not more of the crypto market the scam will finally fall in line like all stocks.
Who knows what Blackrock will do; increase the value of it or burn it to the ground?
JPMorgan doesn't think it will do a thing.
